Any Police fans?

My first Police 10 years in my pocket edc knife.
Why not come sprint run model in 2016?
It may be ZDP-189 steel and carbon fiber.

I had one in the early 90's and loved it the feel was great and didn't have the police marking on it. A customer of mine wanted it real bad and made an offer I couldn't pass up but I regretted letting it go, finally found another one brand new without the police marking and it resides in my pocket most days.

I recently picked up the SS Police SE for a product shoot with an all stainless and black theme. That was a few weeks ago, and it's been in my EDC ever since. I like it more than my previous Police 3, which I found too large. The original is just right, and has the classic, pointy Spyder blade that I miss. Used it just today to cut up lunch after they forgot to include a disposable knife with my order.

Shot that it was used in:

In the next week or so I'm planning on adding some grip tape handles to it, and then it will be just right.

The SS Police md (fully serrated) was my very first Spyderco and I still have it. I'm pretty sure that was close to 30 years ago? Were they made back then? Anyway I love the knife, the weight of it doesn't bother me at all. I often carry it under my belt clipped on the inside of my waistband like an IWB holster.

Post some pics once you have done it. Would be nice too see the mod.
Is it grip tape or skateboard tape you are going to use?

Comgrats on the SS Police. Its a beauty.

I don't see the Police model talked about that much and when it is it seems to be mainly the G-10 version. Just thought I'd see how many of you all have, carry or like this model? TIA

I sadly dont own a Spydie Police, but IMO, they are one of the best looking Spyderco folders out there.

As you wrote, I likewise have wondered about why the Police doesnt seem prevalent.
I mean, the forum is knee deep in posts about the PM and also the sales subforum is flooded with PMs. Hardly any mention of the Police and rarely any fs.

Is the PM more ergonomic or are other factors at play, I wonder?

Another thing; I just checked the Spyderco catalogue right now - the present non-serrated non-SS seems to have a different point -a more upswept line towards the very point- as opposed to the one pictured below.

This one is from a several yrs old sales ad (not mine) and its extremely graceful and good looking.

Amongst other things, I like that it does not seem to have that upswept kind of line near the tip.....or is that a trick of the light?

The present on in the Spydie catalogue doesnt look like this one;

Those CF Police models are awesome! The one pictured is different than the Police 3. The Police 3 is FFG and has a different point, some like it, some don't.

I've been carrying the black coated police model since spyderco first introduced it. I'm not sure when I got it in the 80's I believe. It's worn some of the coating off and has been used quite a bit from cutting any and everything I needed to cut from rubber, wood, wire, pvc pipe, ect, ect. That toothy edge will cut or saw just about anything I think if need be.
I love the flat profile alot and it's hard to find a big folder that is so flat. The only thing I would change on it would be a nice big pivot pin instead of the little pivot pin that's in it. I've had to put mine in a vise a few times to tighten it up again, but it just keeps going. Yeah I do like my old police.

I'm a fan. I have mixed feelings about SS handles, but overall I love the knife. Can't believe I didn't try VG-10 sooner, it is now one of my favorite EDC steels.

I thought the point was different from contemporary models, thanks for confirming.

IMO the old CF Police that I posted a pic of above is simply drop dead gorgeous. By far my favorite Police.

I've been considering buying a full SpyderEdged version in SS (I love the feel of a large all-metal handle), but I've never tried Spyderco's serrations. What do you guys think of them?

They rock. SE is awesome. The police also has a unique blade shape being mostly straight on the cutting edge.

Great edge and very sharp at least mine was that I got in the 80's it's a black coated police. I've cut/sawed just about every think I needed to at one time or another over the years. I'm in construction and have used mine pretty hard. You will need to pick up a special sharpener though for the serrated edge.

Thanks, gentlemen. Exactly what I was hoping I'd hear.

I've got a Sharpmaker, so the serrations won't be a problem.

It's the first modern knife I remember admiring. My uncle had one that he used extensively.
