I’ve been using the 1/8” stock for a few of my more tactical offerings as well as a few hunters. Roughed out a test blank and have been beating the crap out of it. Very impressed so far.

How differently?
Yes, right around .136”. It has been a few months, my steel was from first batch. I haven’t experienced anything like you’re showing above with the flaking, but I did notice the steel isn’t a real spark thrower post HT, at least not like other high carbons I’ve worked.Interesting....the medium thickness they offer?
Nominal 1/8" is actually around.136"?
It's been a couple months since these were released...? Right?
I ordered the first week out, I think? But just now am starting to grind on them
I bought the 3 different thickness and they are behaving differently.
How close to the sheared edge of the bar is the blade?
Hoss
Thank you for responding....
Is that something we can tell by looking at it?
I'm not sure I entirely understand your question?
I'll say the profile, especially the edges, I clean up and smooth out with finer grits. I worry about stress risers, so I have the edges pretty nice.
No, I was just wondering if that could be the problem. You are asking how close to the edge of the strip of steel My knifes edge was?
Is there a general recommendation for a distance?
No, I was just wondering if that could be the problem.

Clearly what happened is the quenchant is haunted. The quench tank needs to be exorcised of the bedeviled oil and refilled with something non-haunted.
Also, is the surface of the steel patchy-looking? Why are there like 20 hardness tester marks on one blank? That seems like a lot of poking with the ol' diamond penetrator.
