Any Recon 1 XL owners in the room?

Basically I just need a little enabling. I love the standard Recon 1 and am looking for an excuse to grab it's big brother. Those who have one, how do you like it? Is it a pocket hog? Any input and photos are appreciated!

Well… I’m glad you asked. LOL. The Recon 1 isn’t a small knife by any means. However, the XL makes it look like a small knife. Yes, the XL is a pocket hog but is absolutely worth it when an anyone asks you for a knife to use.

But in all seriousness, the XLs are getting harder and harder to find. I snagged my only one when it came up for sale at a reasonable price.

That standard R1 looks miniature in comparison! Very helpful reply; much obliged!

One thing holding me back is the cost. I know it's a huge slab of XHP, but the retailer I buy from is selling it for $420 CAD. That's $303 USD. Not a small chunk of change.
Ooooof. Maybe look for one in aus8 - that’s what mine was and I used the hell out of that thing. Cut tons of cardboard with it and it stayed sharp a lot longer than I thought it would.

The first "nice knife" I ever bought was a clip point Recon 1 in AUS-8. I loved that thing but ended up gifting it to a friend who needed a blade. Perhaps the secondary market is the way forward here.

Secondary prices have gone up but I can’t tell if Old Cold Steel will go up or down in value over time. I’ve seen XLs on the secondary for $300-$400, at least the old steel models pre-GSM.

I'm hoping to maybe snag one for Christmas. I had a short list of a few items for my wife and daughter to pick out from, and I tried to position that one close to the top. It's funny how much more massive those XL knives get when you scale them up from 4" to 5.5"

I want one badly :)

I'm sure my wife bought mine when it was on sale over the shopping week. Currently sitting around $218, but I think I saw it dip below $189-199 thus why she probably bought it.

Kinda eager to see how it stacks up against my current winter time EDC the Max 5...which she bought me last year for Christmas. Love the length of the blade, but she's a heavy cuss.
