Any Recon 1 XL owners in the room?

I'm happy to see this thread is still going! I think I want all the CS mega-folders but I can't get any of them in-hand before purchase. Right now I'm looking at the Recon 1 XL (obviously), the Frenzy II, and the 6 inch Hold Out. Something with really good reach but not that boat anchor weight. Hmm...

Recon 1 XL is the beastly do it all knife that will never leave you under knifed.
Frenzy is the piercing powerhouse, and will leave you wanting on slicing.
Hold Out is sort of a middle ground, with better reach than both, and better slicing than the Frenzy.

All three are gems.

Where does the Talwar fit in?

Based on your username, the Recon 1 XL will probably look like the regular Recon 1 on your person lol. You can’t go wrong with CS megafaun—I mean, megafolders.

Is anyone else entertained that a Cold Steel thread has dominated the weekend. There is hope for humanity!!!!
CS has always made awesome knives. I’m just sad to see Thompson, Demko, and Wallace go.

I don’t care much for the new GSM products. But I do hope they at least maintain the QC of the old Cold Steel, you know? As long as the golden age products remain reliable, then something of value persists in the world.

I’ve had several Recon 1s over the years and admittedly they look small in my hand. The XL is such a huge jump in size over the standard variant though. I’m definitely curious. Also, on the Cold Steel website, someone who claims to be the same size as me left a review for the XL and he says he carries it every day.

I never considered putting Recon 1 (the standard one, not the mini obviously) and small in the same sentence lmao. Expect some handle to stick out at the bottom of your hand. Just pretend it’s a dagger/sword pommel lol.

The XL is great. I recommend it with jeans or cargo pants though. Forget the millennial/Gen Z shorts when it comes to megafolders.

I'm the last year of Gen-X, so this isn't a concern. Haha!

That depends where they start and stop it. I was born in '81, so I get lumped into X and Millennial. I think someone said they should make a cross over generation of those born between 70 and 85 and call it Generation Goonie 😅

I never wore hipster skinny jeans but I also had the good sense to to wear JNCOs in high school. Relaxed fit seems to house whatever I need to find a pocket for.

I've heard from multiple sources that Gen-X ends in 1980, which is the year I was born. I mean, it doesn't matter too much in the end, but that's the info I've always gone with.
