Any Recon 1 XL owners in the room?

This thread has inspired me to break out most of my larger XL Cold Steel folders. I gave my Hold Out a good cleaning. I love that knife other than due to the size it's got a slightly weak detent and the blade is off center a bit. I've tried working it to center, but keeping the blade as tight as I like it and on center doesn't seem to be in the cards. No big deal. I've got a snaggletooth on it, and it's a pretty dang impressive knife to wave open.

Today I decided to carry my Counter Point XL. Honestly, Midway had a stupid price on this knife of under $40 some time back, and I just couldn't pass it up. It goes for over $100 all day long. Love the strength of the tip and the AUS 10 really shines. I would love to see an upgraded version in G10, but for what I use it for...a boot knife, it's perfect. I kept it stock without a Snaggletooth and just blow the boot fuzz out of it every couple of months.

My problem child, as in the one I really wanna love but just can't, is the Mayhem. It feels like a great concept design that doesn't know what it wants to be. I do like the Ram lock on it in terms of how fast it is to open and close, but is SO WIDE in the pocket. I also think it should come stock standard with S35VN for the price it commands. Still, with a Snaggletooth and the right pocket, it's an intermediating knife. I just wish it had less wasted space on the grip and a tip that wasn't as fragile. It's a cleaver which feels like it should me held in a sabre grip...which feels weird.

As it stands, the 5Max remains my favorite. AD did such a great job creating this nearly unbreakable folding pocket tank. The way the tang of the blade nests behind the steel liners and the lock up of the Triad and how thick everything is on it. I'm not sure that I could generate enough lateral force to break up unless I was setting out to do it ;)

I'm really hoping the Recon One XL will split that difference of something that offers XL performance but maybe isn't so dang heavy. The 4" version is the knife I grab when I want to bring enough blade for work but don't mind putting it through the ringer. Honestly, if you made me choose one folder to carry based on practical metrics...it's a hard one to top.
