Any rumors of HT changes?

No offense Justin, but I'm going to call you out on this thread. I know you are aware already about the upgrade to the heat treat. In fact you are so aware you even stated in this thread (post number 2 - March 20th, 2016): http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1379163-Cutler-versus-Knives?highlight=whiteout "Side note, the whiteout bugs me. I'm thinking of asking to have correct cards sent to me. Not sure yet." that you were considering sending your birthcards back in for the correct heat treat rather than the whiteout. This is one of several occasions in the past you discussed the new heat treat level. So, remember the forums have long memories. Don't go promoting some CPK delta heat treat 3V thing your are stoked about on this forum, while pretending your CRK let you down and some miracle product slayed the material with ease. It shows poor form. If you start with a white lie "any news on a heat treat change? Chris has really stuck to his guns" etc etc, how can we trust the rest of your story?

Oh yeah, now I remember reading about those. Thanks for the reminder....lord knows I need them at times :p

Just Wow !
He knew the HT had been upped, and then started a thread like this !?!?!

the funny thing is JF is a confessed knife collector. It's quite possible neither the CPK or the CRK ever touched any carpet of any sort. This thread is just some weird attempt of flaming the CRK forum, for god knows what reason..........mainly to promote CPK knives I suspect, which appears to be his latest passion. Human psychology keeps life interesting......that's for sure.

The right tool for the job probably would have been a $2 box cutter with break away blades. But then, it kind of begs the question, why is a sharp $400 knife in S35V, with a thin hollow ground edge and pointy profile, less able to take the work than a $2 box cutter? Sure the box cutter is inherently thinner, but the edge still matters.

The reality is the knife failed at a perfectly reasonable task... To which I would add that the thin boxy handle shape did not seem to contribute to its ergonomics...

My advice to CRK would be to at least try a few runs in 440C or D-2, and see if this kind of thing comes up...

I hate to humor you; but you are aware that CRK has used a number of different steels over the years, right?
When I first became aware of them, the Sebenza was made with ATS34. They've made changes as technology brought better options. As I recall, S35Vn came to be (in part) due to the efforts of Chris Reeve.

Yeah, this BS happens here now and then.
I remember a few years ago when all the fuss was going on about the cutting test a fellow member had done on YouTube. We had two trolling the forum every chance they got at that time. Both were told by a SuperMod here that they could no longer post in this room....Thank goodness !

A buyer beware kind of situation, eh?

It would make a good add in the for-sale: Micarta 25: Asking $650..never used or carried.....full disclosure: this P.O.S. won't even cut carpet, and the customer service is terrible.......BTW....have you ever heard of CPK knives?

We will discuss knives and not each other.. this is turning into that discussion in which we do not want it to devolve.

After having been a toolmaker for many years as well as a member of bladeforums for many years I have come to to several conclusions.

1)There are many "experts" on the forums who have vastly more knowledge than the manufactures.
2) People are good at talking a good game than they are actually playing a good game.
3) I have never seen you post in this forum before. I will come back to number 3 specifically.

First, I will say Welcome to the CRK forum! It's a great place to discuss knives of many flavors from CRK- Other knifes are fine to discuss, but let's try to use some common sense about the discussions. Comparisons are fine for what it's worth.

I have done some digging and found some of your previous posts just to see what you are into so I could make some suggestions on a CRK. I'm kinda helpful that way.

My first suggestion after reading some of your posts elsewhere is, Don't come here to troll..I WILL infract you for it.. It's not something I take lightly at all when I give one out.
This is going to go for anyone doing something similar things. I do read other parts of the forum.

IF you anyone has an issue with this, send me a PM. I will help to the degree I am allowed. I will go out of my way to help if I can no matter who you are or our history, but please do not come here to troll the membership.

I put 34 degrees inclusive on my Micarta 25 and it's held up very well for me. Still acute enough of an angle to slice very well, but not a super thick bevel.
