Any thoughts on the new Busse???

What does this knife do that a Mora 2000 doesn't?

Oh I know, get traded like stock and sit in safes.

Yeah, I see what the big ol' infi choppers are good for, but real working knives that aren't in line to working mens salaries are silly.

Attract the women folk? :p

Nothing really.

But if you're refering to the pictured Lean Mean, I would imagine it would be a bit more durable because of the full tang and slightly greater thickness. And it doesn't sit in a safe. I looked long and hard for that model and finally snagged one, the intention being to use it. I simply took the picture when it was new.

Maybe we should stick to the Boss Street though. I brought up the Lean Mean because it is a "Street family" blade with similar handles, and it shows how Jerry will sometimes throw the "thin" crowd a bone. Hope he does the same with this Boss Street.

:grumpy: Every time a Busse thread comes up.....

Lots of Busses get put through the ringer day in and day out by lots of folks. Just like some cheaper knives that dont see any use. Some people use em, some collect. To throw all Busse owners into the same catagory is just silly.

I saw a thread where a guy processed a NICE Elk with a SAR4.

Just cause someone can afford to spend their hard earned money on a Busse, doesnt mean they dont work just as hard as you.

While I think I understand the gist of your post, their are many of us who use the smaller blades. FWIW I despise Moras and find them ergonomical nightmares. I do like the Cold Steel Finn Bear though. As to the price, I can attest to it being difficult for many of us affording INFI, but it is what it is. I wouldn't have INFI if it weren't for having a very, very patient benefactor. If you are into Busses, great. If not, why hate?

Alright Guyon fairplay on the knife.

Using a Busse as a trim lure is like having a 502 crate in a Unimog, you'll get some looks but mostly as pause before they sprint the other way. :D

+1 for the plastic handled versions, but here's a handy fix. Bike inner tube.

Sorry... more thread drift, but I figured that's a valuable tip.

Hmm... above, I meant a "Street family" blade (Mean Street, Boss Street), but I wrote "Mean" for some reason.

Guyon, that's pretty cool:thumbup:.......................... for the folks who want a Mora. I'll stick with CS and SAK for inexpensive. Busse and Fiddleback for comfort and use.;)

If the Busse lasts a life time I don't think the initial investment is that bad. There's always Scrapyard knives too. Mine have taken serious punishment and still look great. Not that Mora's are bad knives.

That is a ridiculous argument - you can say that about any knife that costs more than a Mora (most knives).

While I could get by perfectly ok with my Moras, that doesn't mean I WANT to.

I have a Fiddleback on order that costs as much as this Busse knife - I love the artistry of his knives.

This Busse is $227 BTW.

Looks too thick at .220, otherwise it looks like one of the more practical Busse designs. Why is it that Busse knives are so thick?

My 'Boney' Active Duty is quite nice, but doesn't seem 'thin' in any way. Is there a problem with INFI's lateral strength that it needs to have thicker spines?

No, I think it's more in keeping with their "indestructable" theme. Infi has proven to be plenty tough, but no matter the steel it's not hard to break a knife that's 1/8":D Since Busse has a reputation to uphold...

They're fully hardened at 58-60Rc, so lateral strength should be typical of a knife at that hardness with the same thickness.
Think target market. After all, the company name is Busse Combat, not Busse Bushcraft;)

+2. I may not be a huge fan of Busse knives, but you can't say that they aren't extraordinarily well made and built to be used hard. I just won't be buying one myself. :0

since when is how i spend my money someone elses concern?

I make crap money. Most people make more a week than i make in a month or two. I choose to buy nice knives instead of iShiny pods/phones and going out to movies and dining out. I buy fresh food and make big meals and freeze them. I have no bills, no credit cards, no debt. I do this so i can buy nice knives. My entertainment is this site and going hiking every chance i get.

again, how OTHERS spend their money (say on BUSSE or custom knives) is their business.

Merry Christmas :)

Not really sure what many people's problem is with Busse. I dig em. There like cockroaches, they'll still be around after WWIII.

Just ordered one. Maybe it will stay maybe not!

I think it would be a great belt knife for woods bumming.
The straight-handle and spine and shape of the handle belly give you a classic HD basic knife design with INFI.
I think it's too thick for most intricate Bushcraft chores. It is a "combat" knife and I imagine would fill many needs to any soldier wearing one.
I had a Meaner that was .220 and loved it but had too much spine thickness.
Someone mentioned the unofficial "Tweeners" Busse put out. These are overlooked by most folks but are awesome knives for most bushcraft work. The only drawback for me is the choil.
