Sorry if this is a repost, but I stumbled across this ESEE ti-framlock folder when searching for a nicer folder for myself. I know ESEE has a good reputation with fixed blade knives and just curious if anyone knows much more about this knife or if it is expected to be quality. It's release date is Dec. 2010. Heres the link:

Almost looks like a mix between a strider and a Sebenza, and less then half the price.

Hell yeah. I'm on the list for the Limited Edition from DPXGear and I have a preorder for the standard model as you show in your OP. And they are being made by Lionsteel to boot.

Wow that looks really nice except that jimping on the blade looks like it will shred your thumb. I really like the belly on that blade.

I'm jealous! Sorry for being a rook in the knife world but I assume Lionsteel is a quality maker by your statement?

The jimping doubles as a wire stripper and yes, Check out the Lionsteel SR-1. This should be a VERY fine knife.

Uh, hell yeah I am! I've already got my LE order in a long time ago :D

I should get a production version to beat the S out of too...

Thats new, and I will. This knife just might have surpassed the Sebenza, Alias and Sage on my list. Another pic:

How far does that spacer on the bottom of the knife curve around the back? I guess I am asking is this pillar or spacer construction?

Nope. I don't care for the thumb jimping, and esp the bottle opener(or whatever that is) on top of the blade. I like to be able to put my thumb or finger up on the blade spine for detail work if I want.

I also don't like much writing or stuff on the blade or clip. Not sure if the final version will have a skull on it, but that would also be a deal breaker for me. JMHO though.

well the models shown thus far have been prototypes, so things can change, if memory serves me right i remember RYP saying the jimping could be modified

as for the skull
. In fact, mr.dp will be removed from regular production version handle as well.

It looks well built. I love the low rider pocket clip. I'll probably pass on it as other design elements don't appeal to me.

This is the folder I have my eyeball peeled for.

I don't know.. for the price point I think it is an excellent place to start for a TI frame lock knife.

Considering I have a small sebenza.. I don't think this would be any match for it. Looks like it is made for edc considering how small it looks in the hand. For EDC the small sebenza still is tops in my book. Thin, light, and has a lot of blade in the small handle. For an all out tough knife I like mine to be bigger.. like the XM-18 or perhaps the SMF.

I am not a fan of the D2 steel they have included for the blade.. but I think for the price you get what you pay for. It should be an excellent skinner considering it is all belly.

These are my thoughts too. Then add in that its made in Italy (though it looks very well made), but thats still a negative for me.

And ESEE has a problem with writing too much on their stuff. One small logo, the steel, and origin should be more than enough. Its what keeps me from buying more.

Bottle opener ruins it for me. Who seriously needs a bottle opener on their knife? The hex, glassbreaker and wire stripper are all nice touches but the bottle opener makes it look too mall ninja/cheesy.
