Any Tough Gents Knives?

Nice FDC, Fooj.

Nice CRK with the decorated screw.
I was deciding between an african blackwood, horn and a box elder on the next mnandi.

Back to the topic....
I also have a thin not as fancy as yours cross-hatch Victorinox in aqua-marine aluminium tucked away in the zipper of my key-holder. very handy knife, too, only less than 2mm thin with scissors, knife & file.

I did manage to cut some Subway sandwiches (after I clean it, ummm another food emergency) once. Impressively sharp emergency knife.

Speaking of Victorinox, how about an Alox Bantam or a Soldier? The alox models are even more rugged than the proven toughness of a normal SAK and have a much dressier appearance. Their range of function cannot be beat by a similar sized knife.

From Spyderco:
Kiwi
Cricket
Poliwog
Calypso Jr. in ZDP-189 (if you can find an affordable one)
Delica4 in ZDP-189 if you can find one
Delica in any of its forms, but preferrably with scales colored other than black
Native as with Delkica above

From BenchMade:
770 in any form
940 in any form
921 Switchback

I have 2 William Henry knives, both G10 and ATS-34, a Monarch and a Wharncliff. I have been carrying the Monarch for a month or so, it is a tought little knife. Very light, solid lockup, razor sharp right out of the box, and at $130, affordable.

For $130?? Where?
AFAIK only "cheap" WH are Legacy series, but they don't lock...

I do like a nice respectable swiss army. Seems people find them less 'threatening.' I have one without all the extra's, just one blade, its not too shabby.

One more vote for Kopa, also Persian, mini Persian or Viele. All Spydercos.

MNANDI HANDS DOWN. Probably the nicest gents knife ive ever handled. Its too small for me so i traded it in toward my sebbie but the impression it left on me was great. CRK's fit & finish is top notch. The blade is a razor sharp splinter of steel that seems sharp enough to perform surgery with . Its got grea tlines to it. Very fluid. The lock up is solid as can be. No bladeplay. Smooth a folder as ive ever handled. You only live once you should treat yoursle to nice things once in awhile. It will outlast you and become a family heirloom. Its only money you cant take it with you.

If you still think that its too rich for your blood id say go with a willima henry they are works of art in their own right. Sharp as all get out. Not a big fan of non auto button locks though. I love their older liner locks. they ano was beautiful.

I'd also recommend a Benchmade 440 Opportunist. As I just stated in another thread, it's one of my go-to knives when I need a super-duper cutter that's lightweight and classy, yet totally sturdy and reliable.

Two words "Victorinox Soldier".
I think it's strangely elegant.

I've had the Mnandi and the small Sebenza's and for some reason the Mnandi didn't
feel right in my hands, size wise, I loved the looks of it, but for some
reason, it didn't make the cut and off she went. Now the small Sebbie, that
is one working knife and one of the Limited editions or the wood inlay Classics
that would really fit as a fine gents knife and able to do quite heavy cutting
for about any situation.
But I still find that I am liking this William Henry Tom Brown tracker model all the more lately,
it seems to have a very aggressive cuttting action, can't seem to stop slicing up
things about the house ;)

For not a lot of money, a Buck 503 does it for me. I also like the Kopa, though I did somehow manage to break the clip on mine. Guess I'll write the Spydie folk and ask if they'll send me a new clip.

My Patrick Nihiser "Little Teaser" is a tough little knife, as is my Peter Atwood Solar Arc. Both knives have 2.5 inch blades.
As far as non custom knives, the Mnandi (like I previously mentioned.), the Spyderco Lava, the small Sebbie, are all great & tough little knives.

Kershaw Splinter w/ wood scales. I have one with blue aluminum scales and it as a very attractive and dressy knife. pretty stout for it's size.

I really like the way you take those knife pictures, very nice, thanks for the eye candy.

I have a Monarch size Titan and it has a great ZDP189 sharp edge.

If only I know how to take it apart to clean it, it will be great, then I can use it like I've been with my CRKs (Food, paper and everythign else).
