I know a ball lock manix replacement is in the works. I've seen it mentioned in a few threads. Is there any ETA for its prototype release? Are there any sketches etc Mr Glesser would care to share :)

i too am interested in any information reguarding the new manix!:D

cheers all! kimo

Eric has a concept model that we'll show at the SHOT show. He's been refining details for months. It's actually an impressive piece, (makes a dad proud).

He and the factory are working out mfg costs, and the possibility of a lower cost version.

That is very exciting! I hope you release some prototype pics :) I will be first in line to buy one, guaranteed. I am a huge fan of the lock on my D'allara. The manix was the first large spydie I bought and I still love it. Can I lobby for S30V or BG42 and carbon fiber?

Very cool, Sal! Can't wait to see you and and Eric again at SHOT!

BG-42 has become rather expensive, but I'd dig in for CF/S90V.

I kind of like the idea of having the higher/lower cost versions. As long as it can be done without hurting the company it's great as it covers more of the market. I can select what I need and want to spend better this way.

It sounds as if you have thought about that in another thread about another knife coming out in the next year.

I am looking foreward to this next manix version. If it's as good as the last one, it should do well as the last one is near legendary. Joe

If it doesn't release any trade secrets, can you tell us how concept models are made? Are they hand made at the factory of choice, or always at Spyderco's Area 51 plant or Spyderco's Colorado Earth factory or ????

Remember, the Manix is suppose to be a tank knife. I dont think CF would fit its style. ;)

Not fancy CF, peel-ply CF. Rough it up a bit (like on the Sprint Run Militarys) and it's like G-10 on steroids. Fits the "tank" bill in my mind. ;)

+1

I asked for CF because I am such a big fan of the CF millis :) G10 would be great too. I am honestly chomping at the bit for this model. It will be a magic combo of two of my favorite models. D'Allara + Manix = Magic.

Zen,

They're hand made.

Bushman,

Sizewise, it's kinda in the middle. Eric also has a drawing for a Manix2 with a 4" blade.

Thom,

Good memory. We might have found a maker for that one. :) I'll let you know after SHOT show.
