Any W&SS products you want me to get at SHOT?

my wife is going to hate you if you open a store in smyrna since we live there and you may get more of my money than she will

I'm not a fan of Marmot at all. I paid around $70 (on sale!) for a pair of their rain pants wanting something high quality that I could put on and off quickly with boots on. They fell apart first time I wore them. Ever since I won't touch anything they sell.

As far as what you should add - KNIVES of course :D. I saw it posted that RAT is going to be there. As a matter of fact, you can pick up a Jungalas for me while your there :D

Also Mora's, I bet you would have trouble keeping them in stock.

One other suggestion - You should build a "Which light is right for me?" Wizard for your site. Basically use your knowledge of lights and your stock to help people find the light that will best fit their needs.

Last thing - the timeout on your cart is pretty quick. I'm guessing maybe 20-30 minutes? At least give people 1-2 hours before you dump it.

Not sure whats actually at SHOT show, website wasn't working for me. But Guyyute or other nalgine style stainless, nestled cup, maxpedition gear and Moras would be great.

I have had excellent performance out of a Marmot Helium bag. Their 8000 Meter Parka is also very solid. A Precip jacket and pants lasted for years but the jacket is getting pretty tired by now.

I have NOT been impressed with Mountain Hardware. OK stuff but not my favorite.

For top-end bags and down jackets, I like Western Mountaineering. U.S. made, too.

Outstanding, when is the grand opening? (I work in Marietta)
Gear-Nalgene stainless bottles, stainless cups to nest with, bottle carriers (maxpedition or something close.)

Probably late February. My attorney finished his part of the lease review today, so I should be signing the final one next week and have work started when I get back from SHOT.

I love my Precip pants, which are probably what you have. I have a $550 rain jacket, but I tend to tear up pants, so I think the Precips are great considering the price. Maybe you just got a bum pair. Their tents and sleeping bags are top notch, so you might want to give them another shot. Their warranty service is also superb.

I will probably get RAT. I'm going to be picking up Benchmade, Spyderco, and probably a few others as well. Not the whole lines, since I am not SMKW, but I will keep the popular models in stock. I honestly can't compete with the big dealers, so mine will likely be full price and thus a limited selection.

I have been trying to find a decent source of Moras for over a year. The only US distributors I have found wholesale at about 10% under the retail prices you see everywhere. Obviously, that won't work, so I need to find a better source.

Regarding the light selector, I'm working on it. It's a big undertaking. :)

Didn't realize the site timeout was quick. I'll have to see if that is even something I can fix.

Nevermind, google rules! I changed it to 90 minutes. If you log in, it will save your cart until you delete the items.

I've love to see the following on your site:

Titanium Innovations CR123A Batteries and more batteries in general
Cookware
Stainless cups
More Water bottles
Nylon webbing - You have a nice sellection of Paracord but no Webbing. 1", 1.5" and 2" wide would be nice

Congrats on getting a store front. Hope it works out for you. Would love to see a video from your Grand Opening when it happens. Have fun at Shot Show!!

I hope you'll keep mail-order available for overseas customers. I'd really love to get some of the stainless nalgene bottles. Then, if I have to do an order for them, it leads to more moras, and more firesteels, and....
On second thought, stainless nalgenes might not be such a good idea.
Thanks for thinking of us.

Stainless bottles, BASIC cookware, Mora knives, Condor machetes, maybe Cold Steel/SOG 'hawks...

The website and current shipping options are not going anywhere. The site will actually be expanded and improved in the next six months or so.

What show are you going to in February to talk to REI type vendors? You could just make a hellish week of it and pop over from Vegas to Salt Lake City and hit the last 2 days of OR!

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but I have to get back so I can get started on the store. There is a regional show in Greenville that I will be going to in Feb.

Storl,

If possible, it would be great to see a few different lines of sharpeners in your store. I was in the market for one and for some reason thought you would have one or more! Also, it would be really cool to see more knives like the Breeden PSK mini on your site. I know quite a few similar knives are produced in that same price range now, and it would be neat to see a focus on tiny fixed blades on your site.

Thanks, guys. Keep the suggestions coming. I've already scheduled a few appointments based on your suggestions.

I'm just curious whether there is any way you can draw some hunters in to your new store without stocking a lot of hunting-specific equipment? From what I read, Georgia has a fair number of avid hunters and many of them probably like buying new gear as much as knife guys do. Maybe some "Hunter's Survival Kits" or the like. With a lot of guys, once you get them in the door they are fairly likely to see something they want.

I actually have quite a few hunting customers. Selling flashlights helps, as does going to gun shows. I like your idea though, so I'll have to keep that in mind.

Some flat-bottomed peanut lighters would be nice and some z-plus butane Zippo inserts.
Mini breacher bars, widgy bars of various sizes and the small Douk-Douks (great for wallet carry).
Other than that your current selection is awesome!
Thanks for shipping to us folk outside the U.S!
Good luck with the new store!
:)
