Any weightlifters or martial-artists here?

I may ruffle some feathers with this one...
THEY ALL WORK! AND THEY ALL HAVE 'HOLES' IN THEM. THERE IS A COUNTER TO ANY TECHNIQUE. the only thing that matters is your proficiency in your art. find the one that best suits your body type ie. Tae Kwon Do with its high kicks isn't the best for an older person who hasn't stretched a day in his life-
find an art you love and then show up as much as possible- if you find a good instructor he will see your thirst for knowledge in the art and might give you a little more than a guy who shows up once a week for the cardio.
I just went and saw The Bourne Ultimatum last night and once again reminded me just how deadly a person with no other weapons than just his hands and feet can be.

For what the thread was originally intended, IMHO it's actually a very level-headed response, devoid of young, macho-competitive undertones with "my style is the s***t" sentiments.

I hope he does more awesome eskrima body work. Still have to look forward to it on the 15th.
 
Just remember that martial arts, boxing and running do not count as an exercise program.

Any sport/activity based program (including running, XC sking and swimming) will not provide a well rounded workout. They all focus on a few muscle groups while completely neglecting others.

They might be fun, but activity and a rounded exercise program aren't the same thing.
