Any Wet Shavers, here?

I prefer mild razors and I have a Purple Henson coming on Tuesday.

I tend to like aggressive/efficient razors, and the Henson +++ (aggressive) is just a bit mild for my preference. Gonna' try a Kai in is for a bit more exposure.
With the Kai in my Henson+++ I did get a very nice and comfortable shave, just not particularly long lasting. The Lupo .95OC shaves last noticeably longer for me, even without a Feather or Kai.

I will have to find a link for you; they were a special (purportedly 1-time) batch and they didn't publicly reveal their availability. They are kind of a v1.5 in that they are version 1 head shape with version 2 thicker handle.
Ohh very cool. Sort of a sprint run.

If not no worries. I do enjoy the Medium version. And the Astra Blue blades are very nice with it. They seem to work well with it, much sharper than the Treet blades.

Had to dig back a bit, but I'll message you the link to the Henson+++ ("aggressive"), which shows them still in stock.

I have been shaving with a DE safety razor since 2008. I will never go back to cartridges. I also used to use a brush all sorts of fancy soaps, but that didn't add much. So these days it's a safety razor and good old canned foam. This setup gives me some amazing shaves. And best of all, it only costs me a few euros annually since the blades are so cheap.

Shaved this morning with the Henson+++ and a Kai blade. This time I did a more thorough, explorative shave to really get to know the +++. Chased it all the way to BBS level (babies butt smooth). Zero sting from the alum block - impressive. What I'm discovering with my Henson is it definitely takes more time and effort to get perfectly smooth than either of my Lupos - particularly the .95OC which has the capability to get an amazing shave in one pass if I do my part. The Lupo also gives me a noticeably longer lasting shave, so much so that I typically use it as an every-other-day razor. I suspect the Henson+++ would be a great choice as a daily driver, and will likely try as such for the next week. I just wish it were more agile; the super slim profile of the Lupo's is SO nice around the "edges".

Shaving with the Henson + is similar to "Winning Razor" in that they both feel like a squeegee while shaving . I like mild razors so this Henson will be a keeper.

I typically like a heavy razor but have discovered I like light razors as well.

The precision of the construction of the Henson is impressive. Henson sure has gotten a large following for only making razors for a couple of years.

I would very much like to see them make a stainless version with reduced "bulk" above and below the blade's edge (ie, top and bottom). I think they are really on to something with their geometry of miniscule exposure and fairly open gap, but I'd like one with less "training wheels" to allow more maneuverability, of which I have grown quite spoiled by the agile Lupo.

Interestingly (at least to me) is the new Henson head design puts me just a little in mind of the Blackland Blackbird, which is the opposite in "design theory"; it has a lot of exposure and comparatively little gap. And it is a superb razor itself (and a looker).

After years of machine razoring (is that a word in English?) I switched to a safety razor some years ago and will not go back, although my beard is heavy so basically I need to take a shower to soften it up, then use gel or oil. I could never just wet my face with soapy water and shave directly, the razor would get painfully stuck in the timber that is my hair, and it would be a painful bloodbath.

I’ve always been sceptical of Gillette btw. They sent me a razor when I turned 18, expecting me to buy blade cartridges until I die. Now I have a stack of Wilkinson Sword razor blades that I expect will last to my great grandsons :)

I always do my shaving right out of the shower. After my face is fully hydrated, I usually cool the water right at the very end (I like fairly hot showers) to calm my facial skin. I leave my face wet and immediately apply pre-shave (usually Nivea sensitive skin shaving lotion) and then a foaming soap from a dispenser (Dr. Bronner Hemp Peppermint Pure Castile Oil) either with my hand or with a RazorRock Bruce synthetic shave brush. My Lupo .95 Open Comb gets me to full DFS (darned fine shave) in one pass. Sometimes I'll reapply the soap and do cleanup buffing for a true BBS shave that will last in excess of 24 hours.

For some reason that reminded me of Patrick Bateman’s morning routine in American Psycho 😉

Let me know if you ever want to give one of my Lupo's a try. I used my DC (.72OC / .95SB) this am, and think it is one of the best DE safety razors ever made.
Thanks for the offer🙂. I saw your reference to the lupo earlier in the thread and the.95 piqued my interest. I’m in Australia though and can probably get one from the same place here that I bought the G/T if needed.
