Any World Rally Championship fans out there?

WRC drivers are such fearless, navigators are more so... still I believe riders in "Isle of Man" are the mose insane. They even do not wear seatbelts!

Our April 7,8, 2006 rally is approaching. Volunteers are needed. We are giving a communications/marshall course on March 25, 2006 and of course the Nicky Grist co-driver course. www.rallynewyork.com Come and join us !!

Will someone please BEAT Loeb?! He's not my favorite driver but he's a joy to watch. Just an incredible driver.

Subaru has become a lost cause this season but Ford has been charging hard. The new '06 Focus has turned out to be a good ride. Gronholm and Hirvoven have really been running them hard. But Loeb is a complete animal, he seems to be unstoppable.

It looks like Honda and Suzuki may be racing soon. That has to be a positive for the sport.

It's been a good Rally season with the exception of losing another driver, Peter Brock. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200609/s1736485.htm

Now, if the WRC would only be broadcast in the States but I have to admit the Eurosport feeds rule!

Our NY rally last month was cancelled due to too few entrants .Word I got was that the various groups involved in US rallies are not cooperating well ! That's no way to get WRC here.Ireland and Norway are now WRC members .I wish I could go to Sweden then Norway a week later next February. The worldwide numbers for TV watchers around the world are huge .WRC is shown in 200 countries with many millions of viewers !! You can get some TV rally coverage in the USA but I'm not sure which channels

Now that's a GREAT idea! That would be an absolute blast.

I believe it's the Outdoor Channel that shows some of the US Rallies. I've seen a couple. The coverage is short but sweet. Maybe a 1/2 of actual film per Rally. Still, it's better then nothing I guess.

If you want to see the WRC 2006 in the States, bit torrents are the only way to go. Sad really...

Ford came in first place in the Manufactures Points for 2006. Good job Ford! It's been a while. ;)

I wonder if they will be able to repeat this year.

Probably not unless Loeb breaks another bone. :D

Did anyone get to watch last years season and if so, how? Thanks for input! Much appreciated

Our spring rally is on for March 30,31 2007 ,no details yet .In the Catskill Mtns of NY www.rallynewyork.com I've been watching some of the Dakar rally but that's a little too much for me !! Videos of some of the USA rallies are available.

I have been a fan of WRC for a long time. In Aus, we usually get a 1 hour TV special broadcast the week after the actual WRC event. The Monte Carlo was on last Sunday. Awesome. I have to go out today in my WRX. I will have to consciously keep my foot off the accelerator. Maybe a big rubber band.
Although I am not a Citreon fan, I must admit that Loeb is the best so far on the circuit. As an Aussie, I hope Chris can keep his stuff together this season. He drove really well and maturely in the Monte (in last year's car too!).

MDG,

It's a shame FIA won't be running a WRC rally in Australia in 2007. :thumbdn:

Rally Australia was always a fast gravel rally. I always enjoyed watching it.

V-1

Yeah, but it returns in 2008 in Queensland. I rode off road bikes in the same forests in Qld many years ago. Has the potential for some spectacular specials. Won't be the same as the WA ball bearing gravel roads but just as spectacular in its own way.

Pity it won't be coming to Canberra. Canberra was in the running as we have held an Asia Pacific round for a long time. Our roads are just as fast and dusty as the WA ones. But the ACT Government would not support it. I will remember that at the next election.

I am more into bikes but they are not an option with saskatchawan winters.
I had a 91 Nissan sentra SE-R that was set up like a budget rally car and it was awesome for the winter roads here. It was cheap enough that I would do things I would never consider in my new ride. There are some good cheap cars like the SE-R that would make killer backroad bombers. My SE-R was a 4 door and had a decent(not ridiculous) stereo so it was really practical transport as well as great on gas. I even used it for hunting. It made less power than my sportbike but was as fast on the backroads and off the line as my new Honda civic SIR(love the "R" models) because it was so much lighter.
I still regret selling it.
