anybody done work for "teflonbilly"?

As a jeweler with 30 years experience, I would say to be very cautious of a diamond trade. It could be the deal of the century, ....or not.

One popular method of confidence men is to offer to pay cash, and then lead you into a swap of some sort that sounds better than cash. This person might be a fine fellow, so I'm not saying he is a problem. Just be very cautious if a diamond is involved.

Dude, unless you are a professional gemologist I would not do the diamond trade. I have been a goldsmith for 21 years and I wouldn't do the diamond trade. If it is a legitimate diamond, obtained in a legitimate manner, and you could actually get more for it than what your work is worth, I would be astonished.
My advice, get full payment before you ship in a manner that can not be later voided, the fedex check or something like that, then when you need a diamond, talk to Stacy, myself, and a few other jewelers who are also bladesmiths, and I'm sure you will find one of us who can make you exactly what you need.

well... i will definatly move forward with great care. i will see if he is willing to send me the diamond so i can have it certified before i send him the steel. we will just have to see. and if it falls through then i might very well be talking to to one of the other bladesmith jewlers, whether it be stacy or you Page. thanks very much for your feedback. and i will ask about the fed ex check
thanks again

the fedx check is the best way to go chris. since this person has never posted i wouldnt trust them. you are a member in good standing and wouldnt risk your reputation by ripping off anyone. this guy has nothing to loose if he rips you off. i would go with the check or have him send you the diamond first. if he has a problem with that, tell him to read this thread.

Go cash...Send him pics Etc to show your work, soon as the cash is IN Hand send his blades.
Simple
Only person who would get upset by that is someone who is not being forthright to begin with.

I want to echo the other sentiment on this thread. Get cash, get it up front as soon as the project is complete. If it's something you can't/won't use/sell elsewhere, get a deposit. I'm also surprised that he mentioned this forum and then never bothered to post in this thread.

Take care.
