Anybody else giving knives for Christmas presents ?

Father- and Mother-in-law are getting Case HOBO's with rosewood scales. They spend a lot of time out west hiking in the parks, etc. Plastic knives and forks just don't cut it. (Pun intended)

  • My Son's getting some big honkin' Victorinox job that I ordered from a dealer in Switzerland.
  • The Bro-in-law is getting a Spyderco Delica98.
  • Mom's getting one of the new, brighter white Photon II's. I recently gave her a Leatherman Micra.
  • I just got myself a couple of new Kit Carson folders.

I love giving knives for gifts. I gave this year:
Son#2: A CRKT M16, small version
Coworker #1: an old Case Farmer's Helper
Coworker #2: A Beretta gents knife
Coworker #3: a CRKT M16
Coworker #4: a CRKT M16

Also one of the forumites sent son #1 a Buck Swiss knife to congratulate him on his essay in KI this month. Thanks Tom!

Father in law - Original Leatherman Tool

Brother in law (wife's brother) - Custom skinning knife. Black bead blasted Micarta handles, 5 inch satin finished ATS34 blade.

Brother in law (wife's brother in law, actually) - Buck Nighthawk (? the uncoated version) - he's stupid and will think it's a great knife.

Brother in law (sister's husband) - Hmmmmm......better think of something quick. I forgot about him!

this year I answered all requests for kitchen knives for friends&family. Made 'em out of ats34& layered g10(black&red)My brother got a hunter in teflon coated 5160
I cant wait till they get them.Of course then they'll all want a set of steak knives to match(everybody loves a knifemaker in the family LOL)

 
Come to think of it,
I also gave the girlfriend a large and small Spyderco kitchen kinfe. I also gave my step-mother and mom large Spyderco kitchen knives.
Most of the kids got Mag Lites.

Anybody in my circle knows that on any gift-giving occasion they're getting something sharp, unless they put in a specific hint for something else. Daughter and son in law got fancy puukkos for Hanukah. At the office I handed out various small useful knives that had been in inventory for a long time.

Father-in-law is getting a Gerber 400 series multitool. My dad is getting a Leatherman Micra that comes in a blister pack with a Mag-Lite solatare.
 
My wife has finally decided that she might find a knife useful, so I'm giving her a blue Spydie Ladybug to join the Photon on her key ring. I decided to start small in the hope that she will move on to bigger and better things
