Anybody else ready for hunting season?

The little cool snap certainly got me thinking about it. I have started preparing and will be planting food plot's, moving stand's, cutting brush ect, Archery season starts here on Oct 1st, then the muzzle Loader and modern rifle to follow shortly. I just hope the weather cooperates and we can get some cool temps and rain to get those plot's growing. I will also be going after wild Hog's, which can be just as fun as Whitetail's, and are great eating also.

Never had the chance to go on a hog hunt but from what I have heard it is a blast. Definately on my list of things to try.

Maybe I will bring an old friend out this year. I gave him a few years off but I think he has a taste for blood again as he bit me last night. Nothing serious, just a reminder to me that the old AD was still ready, willing, and able.

Fall bow opened last Saturday here. This Saturday will be my first day out. The stands are hung, bow is sighted in. Arrows are tuned... My knife of choice will be my Vex. I just brought it camping with me and its a champ at all chores thrown at it. Good luck all!

Season is year round in TX for hogs. My place is covered with them and with the Bastrop fires knly a mile away I expect to see more. Garth you are welcome to hunt anytime when you are in Austin area.

Thanks. If I am ever in your neck of the woods I may just have to look you up.

Just curious, what do you guys use to hunt hogs?

I have a Nov 5th guided hog hunt in South GA scheduled. Weapon of choice is a knife by Ken Hall. I'm stoked.

I have heard of people hunting hogs with just a knife. Sounds fun, but I may not try that on the first hunt. I'll get a few under my belt before I try that one.

Garth, using a bow instead of turning them inside out with a .338 this year? Are you hunting for meat this time? ;-)

Yep...Looking forward to it.
Hunting is just part of an excuse to take days off and hang out with the guys.

Gonna start with the bow for a few months. Then I will head south where I can pull out the bigger stuff.

Can't wait! This will be the first year in too many for me to get back out... Hopefully I will have my MUK paid off and in hand by then..otherwise my RS and Skeleton Key will be keeping me company, with my BuckBuster to do some of the heavier duty processing.
