Anybody else use a sheath?

99% of my knives are carried in a pouch on my belt.

A leather simple pouch with a clip flap that cost not more than $5.
There are three sizes, up to 3 5/8", up to 4 1/4", and bigger like 5"
A 3 3/4" knife rattles around in the leather pouch, so I use a SAK sized nylon pouch.
The leather pouch is not wide enough for some knives, so I use a wider SAK sized nylon pouch.

Since most folk carry a cell phone on their belt, a knife pouch is un-noticed.

Does anyone know of simple leather pouches with a clip flap that will take wider knives like a 4 1/4" S&M Swayback Wharnie?

Here's my Case Trapper and the sheath I carry it in sometimes.

Thats the set up I have.

I've got a couple of nice ones that I've never actually used to carry my knives. I prefer pocket carry. (But I'm sure I'll use 'em at some point.)

Campbell, Elliott said he never used them, so . . . man card reinstated?

BTW Bluesman, that sowbelly holster is really pretty slick!

Thanks, Jeff. I got it with that Reese Bose sowbelly when I traded for it.
It was made by our own Gary Graley.

The other pouch was made for me by Paul Long.

This is my usual carry sheath, fits everything from a mountain man to a single blade trapper. It is really versatile.

you guys have some awesome sheaths, i've been carrying my yella cv trapper to work on my belt in a soft leather sheath that is made by case, and i love it, i really want to find a belt sheath that will fit my case sodbusters as they are my favorites but don't ride well in my pocket for work.

thanks
sam

I have the second sheath in Rick's post (#19), but have not used it outside of the house yet. It holds the knives well if I have no pockets on inside.

I use sheaths a lot of the time, but I don't have any fancy custom ones like you guys do.

Otherwise, for a nice slipjoint, I'll use one of Ron Ryder's slip pouches. I just don't see getting all the scuffs and scratom eys and coins in my pocket.ches fr

Ya know, it's a really neat thing that this was brought up.

The reason is because my new Buck 301 that came on Friday came with an interesting leather sheath that kept being advertised as discontinued.

For the last couple of days now, I have been trying to figure out how the heck you would carry your slippie in that, then in your pocket. I think that the general idea is to carry it in your pocket, clipped to the outside as you would a tactical knife.

Here's a picture of the knife and the sheath that I am talking about that came with it. I think that I'll actually try to give it a go starting tomorrow.

edit: By the way, the sheath has a clip on the backside.

Another edit: this is my 100th post on this forum, and I'm glad to say that I got to share it here on the Traditional forum with you guys!

I am just wondering that if the cases are discont'd, can I get them on eBay? I'm gonna go look now. Try and pick some up before I can't.

Well, of course I'm a little biased ;)
here's quite a small sheath for a Jim Serven folder

do any of you guys carry a large case sodbuster in a belt sheath, and if so what kind, i always wish i had my sodbuster while at work, but can't ever make myself put it in my pocket, so i carry a junior, but would love to have my large one on my belt.

thanks

You can find the Moore Maker belt sheath (that comes with their large sodbuster) online. It's just right for what you have in mind.

I use an old William Henry Clip sheath for my Case CV Yellow Trapper and my A. G. Russell lock back in damascus and quince. I also carry my larger folders in a horizontal Benchmade Bali sheath. My Buck sheaths don't get much use at all, as I prefer a more slim carry option.

I used to have a sting-ray skin pouch that fit most of my single blade knives, but sent it on with a Kerry Hampton BP that I had on the passaround. I'll have to replace that soon.

I carry my pocket knife and a small AAA LED flashlight in a black nylon and velcro flapped sheath on my right hip. It keeps it clean from pocket lint and crud, and makes it easier to get the knife while sitting, without digging in the pocket. The sheath is from a police supply and is very low profile, and wide enough that the knife and flashlight fit in it side by side, so either one can be taken out real easy. I don't like to keep a cell phone on the hip, too easy to damage. Down in the pocket it's more protected.

Carl.
