Anybody else use a sheath?

Yes I use pocket slips, similar to this. (home made slip, Bruce Bump Trapper)

This is a great thread. I have been looking for some pics of folder pouch's or sheaths. This has some great ones. Any others out there you want to share?

People put down a lot of money for these knives, and then have to be incredibly careful about what they let ride in whatever pocket they choose to carry their slipjoint.

Does anyone make a sheath that clips on the inside of your pocket, that could hold your slipjoint hidden but easy to access?

Think pocket protector... but for a knife in your pant pocket, instead of a pen in your shirt pocket. It also could be turned around, and clipped onto a belt to act as a belt sheath.

@iandh:

You will find that most will call you out on the knife purse. You also be forced to hand over your mancard. These demands are usually non-negotiable. However, I will admit (with fear of having to give up my card as well) it is not a bad idea. It just isn't something I would use. If someone was making them they would sell though.

Case sells a pocket pouches you can use to protect the knife from keys etc. Why do you think so many of the "anti knife purse" people cary in a watch pocket, back pocket, etc, etc. They want to protect their knife while taking away your man card for using protection!:grumpy: I will never, ever, cary a knife with scales made from exotic material in a pocket with any thing else, with out protection!

The worst thing I have found for eating up a knife, is the striker on a bic lighter! That hardened striker wheel will eat a pocket knife!

lately I've been using a soft "benchmade" pouch for most of my slippies, works pretty good actually and all fit in it so it's pretty universal for edc stuff
I have pocket fluff/lint more than scratches so I prefer to use a pouch/slip for the slipjoints, OH are carried clippe or loose most of the time, easy to clean now and then taking them apart

I rediscovered this combo. Rides real nice in my front pocket.

I use pocket sheaths I am making from sting-ray skin, I find this skin thin but protective, as my folding knives sure need protection from the ridiculously huge key chain I'm carrying :confused:

BTW- this is great thread I always wondered how other are managing. All the sheaths and pocket sheaths shown on this thread are just great looking.

Ask and ye shall receive! ;)

Just came in the mail today so took a couple of quick photos. The belt sheath was meant to hold a 2 blade dogleg jack that is 3 3/4" long and it fits perfectly! The inside of the sheath is lined (pigskin?) to baby the knife a little. The outside was tooled with a reptilian look to it rather than the typical basket weave pattern. Thanks rayban for another great sheath! :thumbup:

This is what I'm using now, although since I took the picture I shortened the plaited lanyard and back-braided a loop into it.

Ive been carrying the KSF Scagel leather pouch with my Scagel fruitport. It came with the knife so I thought Id try it out. I actually put my knife through the wash and the little pouch held on throughout the whole washing process. It got some damage to the glue but it otherwise okay. My knife was fine as well.
