Anybody find the 110 a little too big for EDC?

Razorblades, I agree. It seems like nowadays people try to be politically correct. You hear people talk about how when they go into town, they carry their small knife so as not to scare people etc. When I go to town, I make sure to carry my bigger knife. I might carry a smaller one when I'm at home. I don't carry a gun and as crazy as the world is, I feel like I owe it to my family to at least leave a little slippy at home and at least carry something that has a strong lock. Luckily my state doesn't have crazy knife laws. Seems like any time I think about carrying a smaller knife, I hear some other tragic story in the news that makes me rethink that. Same for an office setting. I'm the first one in and have to open up so I like my larger knife at work.

I sure hope I never have to resort to a knife for self defense, but I feel better with it in my pocket.

And instead of getting smaller like most things, cell phones seem to be getting larger. My newest cell phone is bigger than my last cell phone and has to go in my back pocket now so it frees up some front pocket space. But if I can lug around a huge cell phone, I see no excuse why I can't carry a bigger knife. I think a knife is just as important as a phone.
I'm really liking my ecolite 110! No its not the original, but the blade and lock are the same.

Jec88 and Razorblades, I'm tracking with your comments.

There are times when a bigger locking blade is darn handy to have, comfort being the last consideration of the equation. If it's a little heavy, or bulky, so be it. The peace of mind and potential utility of the knife is worth the effort.

All I know is there has never been a moment in my life while carrying a 119 or 110 that I had to stop doing something and take a breather because my knife was too big and heavy.lmao.i carry a 119grocery shopping in the fall when hunting season is on.i abide by the law and I'm not worried about scaring somebody,if they are that worried, they can always leave or head the opposite direction I'm going.i never play to he steeple,I've used my ag 110 in restaurants to cut my steaks,no worries folks !

RB,

I think you get away with it because you live way the heck "down-east".

I live near Boston, where knives get confiscated in Boston proper if too long and where deploying a knife in any situation can turn heads and generate negative comments.

My sense is that the clip point looks scarier to non-knife people. My 500 generates a lot less rumble and the Opinel N9 even less.

Other benefit of the Duke and the Opinel is that they make for better, easy, non-attention getting pocket carry. The Ecolites can't really compete with the Opinel (much, much lighter) or the Duke (thinner) for pocket carry and the classic 110/112 are way too heavy for pocket carry IMO.

Different places, different realities. If I was living in rural VT again, an Ecolite 110 might make more sense to me.

I'm pretty tempted to get a custom 110 but it's too big for what I need a knife for. Also, I just don't want to draw attention or stir up any problems with the law. If I was living up in Rosses Point, NY where an uncle lives, than yes I would buy a 110. :D

You could be right pinnah,I carried my 119 while getting my bear baits going and it doesn't even turn a head on my hip .ive. Cut up watermelon in the superstore parking lot for the kids and its just a regular occurrence.knivesdont seem to offend many folks around here, they are looked at as more of tools than anything.

I was on jury duty here in Arkansas a couple of years ago. No weapons allowed in the courtroom. I felt naked without a pocket knife. After the case, the judge brought a big watermelon for the jurors and himself, and he said, "I forgot to bring a knife, does anyone have a knife to cut this?" and another one of the jurors wips out a big 110 out of his pocket and nothing was said. I was thinking I could have brought my knife all along.

Don't they have metal detectors?

Evidently not. The guy said he felt funny bringing it in the first day, but not after that. And now that I think about it, my keys and phone never set anything off. It was at a county courthouse, not Federal. Now that you mention it, it seems like it should have. I looked it up and it seems like many in Ar. don't have metal detectors and some don't even have security at all times! Read where metal detectors are too expensive so only some have them.

I wouldn't chance it taking a 110 though. If I did take a knife, I would take something that wouldn't be a big loss if they confiscated it.

The 110 is a comforting friend at my side, which I rotate with one of my Alpha Dorados. I wear it everywhere, banks, bars, etc. and nobody seems to mind. I guess when you are over 60, people cut you some slack.

I believe that if you are going to carry a 110, you should use the sheath. Once you get used to the sheath after a couple days, the weight is not really a problem. The only problem is that the sheath is a little bulky and does stand out.
But, like I said, you get used to it after a little while.

I have a 110 and I love it but it is a tad too big for edc. Tho occasionally I will carry it because it really is a great knife

They're only heavy compared to a modern folder that weighs 4 or 5 ounces.

I'm kind of surprised a lot of people think it's too big for EDC because the blade is only 3.7 inches.

Well the 110 comes in at 3.7 compared to a paramilitary 2 at 3.4, and a 112 at 3 inches. So it does stand out if you were to carry it as an e d c in sheath which is bulky.
It''s a great knife for the woods but it's a monster if i were to carry it in sheath for e d c use. In fact, I wouldn't carry it any other way than in a sheath.

I also only carry it in the sheath. The heaviness of it doesn't work well with pockets unless it's a small pocket that will hold it well because a lot of my clothes have big pockets.

I know people that carry the 110 in their front pocket with tight fitting pants and it works well with them because the tightness holds it in place but I dont wear skinny jeans so that carrying method wouldn't work well for me.
