I have a customer who is requesting some of this and apparently I would have to purchase in bulk (I am NOT a knife maker or in the knife business/world except that I like knives). My customers use would be for a large industrial machine they are designing/proto typing/selling.

So I would have to sell the excess. A few hundred pounds I think.

I would like to find out if I would be able to sell the rest through here and if there is any demand for it.

Size would be 2"wide by about .165 thick...This is close to final size, but still being work on.

Appeal to anybody? If so, how much in terms of poundage would you be interested in?

i'd sure be interested to hear how much it would be per pound.
if the price is right, i'd be in for 30 pounds or so.

If it was thicker and in sheet form I would bite.

give me specs on what your looking for.. I have no idea what a knife maker would want size wise...

Would there be a more common size that would appeal to most knife makers?

If I remember right when I last spoke to someone about it they did not have sheets available.

I prefer around .200 so i can have it flat ground to .1875. I normally get CPM in 1'x3' or 2'x3' since it usually ends up being cheaper than buying it in smaller pieces.

funny - i was actually hoping for something a little thinner than .165, but i can make due.
:)

i would think you could cut those .165" x 2" pieces into lengths between 18" - 36" and make most folks happy.

If I could afford any, that size would make me happy. But I keep buying other things...

Ok, I have details...

2" wide, 36" long by .160 thick...

Price is $22.00/lb or $70 or 36 inches...

We are a few weeks away from completing, so this is just exploratory...

They are also considering CTS-OB1 which is supposedly similar to ATS-34 I am told.

CTS-OB1 would be $15.00/lb

Any interest in CTS-OB1??

i can't seem to find any mention of anything called CTS-OB1 on the carpenter website.
any other info available?

also, for anyone not interested in doing the math, the price of Ring's CTS-XHP is comparable to the price per square inch at usaknifemaker.com, but is slightly thicker.

i have to admit, though, that the inner nerd in me chuckled a little bit at the "OB1" name...
as in, O B 1 kenobi.
obi wan kenobi?
you know... star wars?
oh, never mind.
:P

it could make for a great marketing campaign:

"the force is strong in this steel..."

And for the record, I am potentially $3 cheaper per lb than usaknifemaker..on the XHP

sorry about that.
i was basing the price per square inch on this:

2" wide, 36" long by .160 thick...$70 or 36 inches

2" x 36" = 72 in² ÷ $70 = 97¢/in²

usaknifemaker.com is 12.5" x 24" = 300 in² ÷ $292.96 = 98¢/in²

but, i have no idea what that is per pound.

sorry if i muddied the waters.
:(
