hi bf,
i occassionally(4 times now) get emails from a address named jmatone07@aol.com , there is no title in the email, just says no subject.when i open the email there is a link to a site, when i hit the link my pc goes to crap with a virus.its a pain in the azz!
im not accussing him directly because he could be unaware of this happening but i wanted to see if any members recieved these emails aswell.
i was stupid and opened it thinking somebody was kindly sending me a pic of a knife, lol.second time i caught it.3dr and 4th time i just deleted it without opening it.

Sounds like someones email got hacked. I don't open any emails if I'm not sure who they are from, ymmv.

Why exactly are you opening emails from somone you don't know and clicking links within said emails?
Amazing, not once but the forth time you got the hint.

I would designate that as spam and let my email provider bury it for me after the first time. Never open a blind link.

i guess your to busy trying to be mean and sarcastic instead of reading my post, i said i opened it and hit the link the 1st time, thats when my pc went haywire.the 2nd,3 and 4th i deleted it as soon as i saw it without opening it!
i got caught the 1st time cause i figured it was just a member shooting me some pics of knives so i mistakenly opened it.
i posted this to see if any other members were getting these emails aswell.and i just got another 1 this morning.

It's actually quite a common thing it would seem, I get e-mails like that from time to time as well. If it doesn't look right just bump it...you know that now though. :p

so you don't recognize the name, don't recognize the email, the link address looked a bit wonky...but you assumed this was some random person from bladeforums sending you a link to pictures of knives?

Like others have said. Never open a link from someone you don't know.

yea the 1st time was definately my mistake,i do get emails from time to time with no subject or a short version of a subject, like "B" in the subject and when i open it its about "BWM"BUSH WACKER MISTRESS.or if a member wants me to see a knife ive been looking for in a sale thread they will just post the link to the knife thread.so i never got spammed before.but now i know to never do it again.just wanted to see if any other members got this email aswell since this is a very friendly board.i didt want this to happen to anybody else.or if anyone knew/recognized the addy to alert the person his email address was compromised.

Not being mean or sarcastic LM, I see this almost everyday at work. No matter how many times you ell people to be careful and not to do something, they go ahead and do it anyway. With so much technology available these days it still surprises me that pele fall for these things. The ISP that sent that message will blacklisted soone or later. Most ISPs have a threshold for that kind of thing anda mthe process to remove yourself from the blacklist can take time and energy.
