Brantoken, there are limits on the second amendment. but frankly, if you're willing to exclude semi auto rifles while wondering about mag capacity shotguns, I don't want you to have a shot gun.
You say things like, "you can cut down trees with an HK." This makes me think you really don't know very much about weapons. Yes, you could cut down a tree with a semi auto rifle, but it would take a long, long time. It would cost a lot of money in cartridges. It would heat the barrel unneccesarily hot. Billy Graham's son tried cutting down a tree in his backyard with an Automatic weapon. "Took a lot lot longer than I thought it would," he said later.

Dan Koster- very good question. I don't think there is one- that is, an automatic shotgun used by any forces. I could be wrong. Spectre or Rusty are up on that. There are semi auto and pump military style shotguns. They usually have a bayonet lug and capacity can be up to around 9. Mossberg made a pretty neat Military shotgun when they got the contract years ago. It's on their 590 series reciever, if I've recalled that correctly. Barrel length is short, the military having at times less than the 16" mandated for us, but most are around 16" to 18"
There were some shot guns like the LAW12 and such with drum mags- these were labled 'destructive devices' by the BATF under Clinton.
You can take your bird gun, cut the barrel to 16, attach a longer mag tube, with or without new plastic speedloader stock, and have a military style shotgun.
Benelli cycles faster than any other. Remington pump is old reliable. The 590 Mossberg pump is the one I always wanted- built like a tank and fully equiped. You could knock a horse down just by a blow from the forearm, the weapon weighs so much!!!
