anybody know where I could get..

Has anyone heard of a Malaya load for shotguns? It was around 83 or 84 when I read the article and didn't truly digest the material.......12 gauge loaded with single 0 and 2-3 shots about the size of a small marble? if I remember correctly......

can you recommend a particular brand/type/size ?
Go over to the Whine and Cheese forum and check out Vampire Gerbil's profile where you should find his website. Vampire is a mod there and his name is listed on the bottom of the page like Bill's and Rusty's are here.
There you will find the best OC spray made according to Dave, Vampire Gerbil's real name.;)
He used to have quite a writeup on the OC, well worth reading.:D
Be forewarned if you check out the rest of his website though, you may be in for quite a shock! :D :D :D :D

"shock" is putting it lightly.....

Yvsa - did you know Dave is in poor health right now? Body's givin' him troubles.

Also, on the subject of freak-shows....should mention that BillyTheTran posted in the Community a few days ago....

Damn! I wasn't aware of that Dan.:( I knew Dave hasdn't been around much for some time but didn't know about the health problems.:(

I saw where Billy had posted but was/am under the impression he was another imposter. There were a couple of Billys actually.:D
Methinks if the "real" Billy had shown up he would have been banned right away, but maybe not if he doesn't get nasty.
The "real" Billy was a hoot now!!!!:D
I'm glad I was around to see and be a part of that. No one who was here then will ever forget BillyTran!!!!! :D

Jeb, you had to be there.;) Do a search on BillyTran, not exact spelling and see what comes up. Billy is supposed to be a Vietnamese kid who loves to praty wit da mankeys, spanks 'em wit lawnmower blads.:D    :D Billy was banned when he told about a security guard touching his paynis. He was a hoot!!!!:D

brantoken,

You don't like the idea of the unwashed masses being able to plunk down $400 a pop for an FAL or the like, yet here you are on a khukuri forum asking us to help you--a total stranger from our perspective--locate an ASSAULT SHOTGUN at a REASONABLE PRICE!?!?!

Am I the only one here who thinks this is a little bit deranged, not to mention hypocritical?

Nor also to mention a bit of an elitist attitude toward the poor, with the implied assumption being that low income earners cannot be trusted with FAL's and other powerful arms, but as long as someone can afford that $1200 FAL, he must be a good guy to be able to afford a gun like that. We can trust him, since he's probably a well educated white collar worker or otherwise affluent.

The tendency to harbor elitism along income class lines is an easy one to fall into. However, I've known poor men more noble than princes, and rich men who were scum of the earth in every way. Sure, they are the exception and not the rule, but I think we can come up with a more fair and effective way of segregating those who can be trusted with guns from those who cannot than that.

One final observation: You've sure been schooling us hard on assault shotguns here for a guy who doesn't know any particular such models, where to get one, or how much to pay.

(Incidentally, BT, I don't know of any typical rifle rounds that are dangerous to 5 miles. Maybe a .50 BMG fired upward at a 45' angle. )

Even shotguns have to be aimed. Every pellet gets accounted for. I have gone almost exclusively to Remington Reduced Recoil Slugs in my 12 gauges for defensive use. There is no intrinsic extra value in so-called "assault" shotguns. Typically, noteable examples (such as the SPAS-12), are too heavy and overly redundant, while others (such as Stryker) have arbitrarily been designated as destructive devices, with attendant licensing requirements. Far be it from me to lecture you on whether you "need" any certain arm, but if you want something like a Stryker-12, you need to get into political action to make that happen.

Spectre, I can't find my Lyman, and I was too inpatient to search the Sierra or do the math, but I think a standard round like a 3006 if conditions are right can carry 4.5 miles. I could be all wrong, as I've read the actual number often enough but didn't care about the distance: the point was to be sure of your target and know the backdrop of a miss.
