Yeah, me too. After Dune and the first one or two(?) after were okay, but the rest of the books just became a way too make money for the Herbert Family IMNSHO.Nasty said:I like Dune...just not the movies.

I first saw the Smithe verision (4 HOURS!) first. It was sometimes shown as a two part late night movie on network TV. Then I read the book; then I saw the Lynch version(2 hours) on VHS. The book is best, but I find the Smithe film fascinating. The Short film is only good as an into to the book.
And the recent series done by the SCI-FI channel was horrible. William Hurt was one of only TWO people that could ACT in the show. I could barely tell the different between Paul and Feyd.Same with The Great Gatsby remake. Mira S... was the only talent. The two main characters (Gatsby and his friend Nick) seemed as if they were played by the same guy.
