Anybody use a JRE Sheath for their RC-4?

I know on ours, the RAT firekit will not fit--the capsule is just too large to go in without distorting everything.

I have a JRE Sharpshooter Sheath for a Bravo-1 and need to get a firesteel. I was looking at getting a RAT fire steel or goinggears capsule but it doesnt seem either fit. I guess I'll just get one of the handled ones from goinggear.

They are NOT the same company, in fact they're pretty much oil and water.

As fire steels go, did you try the "Light my Fire" Military Swedish Fire steel?

If you get the Army sized firesteel it will fit either the JRE or the Sharpshooter sheath.

I am pretty sure Goinggear has them the right size as well.

Well I am not certain then. How do you tell the difference?
I got the sheath used and didnt think to ask. I thought the two were the same, just different versions. JRE doenst make the sharpshooter sheaths?

I am aware that the LMF Army will work but RAT's and goinggear's fire steel (mish metal vs ferocium) are much better. What I was looking to get was the container and firesteel together; like the RAT one and goinggear ones have. If neither will fit, then I'll get one of the handled firesteels from goinggear.

BTW, the sheath I have looks like this:

and is stamped with Bark River's logo on the back.

That one is made by Sharpshooter for Bark River. It and all of the SS and JRE sheaths hold the 3/8" firesteels--same diameter as the RC Firekits. The reason the RC firekit won't fit is the handle diameter.

I think the capsule ones from going gear should work.
