Anyone Been to Mastersmiths in NYC?

Coop ,

I have seen the pics and your site. Very nice work

I met a Bladeforum member there last week. He may expand the store .

You need to see the shop and support what we can before we have no more.

Maybe we can do a BF meet there.

I just got back from Mastersmiths... Bill's a HELL of a man! We sat around, shot the shit, handled some knives, talked about a bunch of non-knife stuff. He also said that he's lowering his prices by 1/3 (or 30%, close either way) on production knives, to be more competitive. Also, if you go in the near future, be sure to ask if you don't see something in production, he had to put his flickable knives in the back.

Overall, two BIG

Yes he is and he is willing to drop his prices after seeing the post here that he was too high.

If that is not meeting the consumer's need then what is?

I think a BF meet at the B&M in NYC would be awesome. Let me know if y'all move forward with it.

I am all for it, I will see Bill today and bring it up. pick a date and time.

oh yes his times are... 1200 -1700 (noon to 5pm) closes for chow then 1900-2100 (7pm -9pm) . I will check again for opening times.

The times are now correct.

I have meetings in NYC in October but can probably do something sooner.

I would like to do it earlier and he said yes . He will have food and drinks. Non Alcohol. He is expanding the store also.

Sweet. Earlier is no problem. Sometime in September perhaps. Preferably a Friday or Saturday would be best for me.

Saturday the 16th is open for me. How's that for everone else?

I was just there and picked up two knives: a BenchMade Sheath Knife and a Kershaw Vapor. Bill (owner) is a great guy and very knowledgeable. This is a one of a kind store in Manhattan you must visit.

Ok date guys, His wife asked me the other day so they can get ready. the store is now expanded.

I will be busy with a family emergency but will be able to get this going.
