Anyone Carry A Small Texas Jack?

My Case addiction continues, and I couldn't resist picking up a new Amber Bone Small Texas Jack in CV today. Thought I'd post a few pictures to show it off. Seems to be pretty well put together. Not sure that I like the CV over the SS, but that is what the local hardware store had in the case. Actually, I hadn't even noticed the "Texas Jack" pattern until this week. I tend to like the Stockman patterns, but I like the idea of just the two blades, with the brass divider of the Texas Jack. I read somewhere that the Texas Jack is sometimes referred to as the "Half Stockman". In fact, externally this knife has an identical twin in one of the Case Amber Bone Medium Stockman.

Nice knife! You'll love the CV once it gets a nice patina going and it's time to resharpen it!!

I have that exact same model. It's in my pocket almost everyday.I love it.That CV takes & holds a wicked edge.I got it cause I wanted something a little bigger than a peanut. The Texas Jack fit right in.

Congrats on a great knife,by an equally great company.:)

BTW,Nice pics!......wish I could take pics like that.:o

Thanks for the comments. I'm thinking this knife might become my regular EDC.

I'm anxious to see how the CV ages, naturally. I'm not going to try to force a patina.

Also, thanks for the compliment on the pictures. I recently got a Canon Elph, and it seems to take pretty decent pictures as long as the lighting is halfway decent. Usually I take my pictures indoors, but today I took the pictures above outside. It seemed to work out pretty well.

Edit to add - glsj1011, looks like that knife is holding up well after a year in the pocket.

Great choice! I have had mine in my pocket every day for just over a year now. While it has often been carried with other slipjoints, this one is my go to knife for every thing. Nothing has been able to replace it yet. Here is a picture of it that I just took today.

Its got a pretty dark patina on the main blade, and a slight one starting on the modified pen. I use the main blade for food and the secondary for utility.

This is my preferred EDC over all my other knives. I wrote a review on it if you want to dig it up. It's a real gem. Enjoy

God Bless

Ah, thanks! I was up to page 20 and hadn't found it yet. I appreciate the help.

Edit to add: kidwholaughs, nice review and good thread also. I agree with your comments concerning the Case Small Texas Jack.

Mine has been in my pocket since it showed up acouple of weeks ago. Really loving this one. Just about perfect for an EDC the modified pen is very useful makes short work of everyday tasks especially blister-packs. No patina on mine yet, I'm going to let this one color naturally. Oh yeah, fit and finish are off the chart for a factory knife!

I've had this one for a few years. I carried it quite a bit, but it hasn't been used enough to get some patina goin.
I gotta start cuttin some fruit with it

I gave one to my dad as a gift a few years ago. He's not a knife guy, bt he seems to really like it and he carries/use it regularly.

Nice pictures everyone, and thanks for the comments. Yobbos1, I really like the dark look of the scales on your knife..

Mine's a favourite, and the scales darken up quite a bit with handling.
Very useful size knife just wish CASE still did it in Redbone as well.

Is that the same frame as the Stockman 032??
I gave my Stockman away when I got tired of those sharp corners on the bolsters....I've learned how to fix that on the belt sander since then.:D:thumbup:
Gonna have to git me one.

I've been carrying the very same knife for about 5 months now. It is a very sweet and practical knife. I use the long clip blade mostly to cut up fruit. The smaller pen blade is used for nearly everything else. Both blades have developed a nice dark patina.

Man, I like the looks of that modified pen blade! For my personal uses, I've never found much need for a pen blade, but the modified pen looks pretty much like a wharncliffe, which I think would be very useful.

After seeing the pics on this thread I went to a knife site that may be somewhere in the hills, with sheep tending people around it (not trying to be cute, just don't know if I'll get called down by Blues or Bastid for mentioning a commercial enterprise) :), ..... anyway, all they are showing is the regular pen blade on this knife. Was the modified pen only manufactured for a short time, or is there some place else I should look? Thanks! Also thanks to Doug S and kidwholaughs for the OP!!! Okay, now I'm confused! I KNOW that Blues is one of the mods here. Are Gus and Bastid the same person or what? If Bastid isn't you Gus, I apologize for naming him above as one of the mods instead of you! I've learned that you folks around here have a pretty good sense of humor, so please use it now! :)

glsj1011's blade shape looks a bit more pronounced than any of the others I've seen. My pen blade looks more like what I've seen in other pictures. Here is another picture.

My knife is 2008 production. Is this what would consider a "modified pen", or a regular pen blade?

Now I'm really confused, Doug S! The pics posted by yobbos1 and 338375 look like a truly traditional pen blade. Your original and most recent pics look somewhat less "pennish" and sorta "wharncliffish". Maybe its just the camera angle. But glsj1011's pics definitely are different AND he makes reference to a modified pen blade. I'm wondering if he did the mod himself, or if it came that way from Case. ................. ?????? I realize there's also the possibility that I'm just stupid! :)

I just looked again at the post by kidwholaughs; not in this thread, but referred to in this thread. Anyway, he says his has a modified pen blade. Maybe Case only made that for a short period of time, 'cause the ones I've seen for sale sure look like a regular pen blade.
