I wrote about your knife actually, also stepped on a bee (4th time, opened up an awesome package from El Salvador, became a moderator, watched a buckshot wilderness DVD and fed on a pound of rice, an eggroll, and an Amber Bock.

Yesterday, I just say through a bunch of classes and did some work so I could have time to hike this weekend.

BTW, I have never seen so many firesteels. I once bought a hundred and it seemed like a lot. I made handles for about 30 of them and then got bored and sold them on ebay.

How do those steels compare to the light my fire ones? I have found that some brands work better than others am I am not familiar with that brand.

I worked in group sessions with 45-60 alcohol and substance abusers, mostly vets. Then I rode a crappy stationary bike for 15 miles while some other nursing students bounced up and down on treadmills in front of me. Then I drank a cold Abita beer. Then I made salmon croquettes. Then I had some more beer. I'm still having more beer while messing with my first tac pack.

They are softer. You have to use hard, fast strikes, but the sparks will burn MUCH longer than the ones you get from an LMF one.
