Anyone else buy band-aides since they started collecting knifes?

It has been 15-20 years since I bought a box of band-aides. The first few months I was uber-careful with my knives, but got a little knick here and there as I learned how to handle a knife. Now more months in I find myself getting bites with greater frequency as I grow complacent. I used to chuckle that about 70% of video knife reviews were done buy a guy wearing a band-aide. I finally just bought a magnum box with about 100 band-aides. Hopefully it will last me a few months.

Not really. Sure I get cut once in a great while, but as "I learned how to handle a knife" and keep it sharp, the number of cuts went way down.

I always have bandaids and first aid kits. Not specifically because of my collection or use of knives since I was a kid with my first Swiss army knaf. First aid has been in my family since before I was born. And it's come into use many times.

I've seen good and horrible bandaids through the years but never kept track of what was better than something else. But If I knew what bandaids were better than others I'd get them instead.

Are there any band aid review sites or yt pages?

Sometimes I get bandaids in boxes that don't peal open, I think occasionally some batches have defects like that. Really annoying when you have to patch up fast. The bandaids that work well after washing hands are idea for me. Cause I hate having to replace them after each time. Often times these supposed water proof band aids are just not water proof and often don't last long.

If you are buying bandaids because of your knives, I'd suggest getting a larger kit for larger wounds. As you may have a larger accidents. Also read up on what needs to be done if some such accident does happen.

Ie pressure, raise the wounded area above your heart. Get the proper bandaging or clotting first aid items. You can never be too prepared.

Also if you keep them really sharp they just glide through you and you don't always feel it. They seem to heal quicker too. If the blade isn't as well kept up and snags anywhere it just hurts more and those not so nice clean cuts tend to be harder to stop bleeding.

I tend not to cut myself often since I use knives on a daily basis. But accidents do happen occasionally, beyond one time this year I used a bandaid I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I had to grab one because I got knicked by a knife.

They have liquid bandaid which is sterilizd super glue which only costs a few bucks which I would take over the normal stuff which may have some nasty stuff your putting in your wound.

LOL!

Just using those I already have on hand and haven't used them all up yet. ;)

Yeah, sure, like so many are saying, NO I don't need band aids because I cut myself with my knives  I just happen to need a lot of them because I ... ummm.. just need them. ;)

For a while last Spring or Summer DLT Trading was sending a small pack of black DLT branded band-aids along with each knife order, which I thought was very appropriate. It's heartwarming when our vendors have our medical wellbeing in mind.:)

^^^^ I agree with this. This morning I was opening and closing a basket weave Damascus blade and all of a sudden I see a flayed piece of skin dangling from my middle finger. I stare at it as it doesn't look too deep. Twenty seconds later it starts to bleed. It was like out of a scene like The Kingsman where the guy gets sliced from stem to stern and 20 seconds later he splits in two.

It takes guts to admit we need band-aids.

I have to admit: for me, I get bitten when I'm fiddling with a shiv while drinking and watching TV. If I was only doing two of those three things, I'd be OK.
