Anyone else disappointed with the obtuse grind on the Delica?

Yup, the thick edge on the D4/ E4 was kind of lame compared to the Millie/ Caly 3, so I tend to opt for SE on these models.

That being said, many people are pretty reckless when it comes to using and maintaining their tools. My best friends Native SE has some serious dings and dents in the PE portion of the blade, and he's just a musician, so I can only imagine the destruction to a Tom Krein blade in the hands of say, a beat cop or construction worker.

I think Sal knows whats up when it comes to the VG10 Delica/ Endura grinds; I think the ZDP models, which are more AFI oriented, should be FFG.

Hey Archman,

Yeah I agree. I have brought this up a number of times. I also do not like how on a majority of Delica 4's I've owned the grind on the back of the blade is further away from the hole than the front. This makes sharpening more difficult and therefore requires a re-bevel of the edge. The Delica 3 had the grind line up much higher which I like.

D3 blade in the D4 handle would be a WINNER. :)

I also do not understand why the SS Delica 4 has a hollow saber ground blade and the FRN models have a flat saber ground blade. I say put the hollow saber grind on all D4's.

:)

Maarten, nice looking knife. Was that done with a belt sander?

Thanks. I get the impression many haven't tried very thin edges, so I thought the numbers would help explain my position. Showing them, yes, your knife works, but my knife will do the same thing with 1/2 to 1/3 of the force as yours, increasing safety and decreasing fatigue.

Vivi; My D4W was done by the german equivalent of Tom Krein; Juergen Schanz. And yes beltsander.

I agree; i like my edges thin. For ruff stuff you can always throw in a bigger folder our fixed blade.

;) (BTW Happy holidays to All!)
