Anyone else excited about the new Evil Dead?

This remake does not appear to have any comedic value to it at all. It's all blood, guts and horror.

Evil Dead...remake of one of the best classic horror films???

Why?

This is just another example of Hollywood running out of ideas:rolleyes:

Save your money and rent some classics instead. Give Evil Dead II and Bubba Ho-Tep a rent instead:thumbup:

You could always watch Basket Case on Netflix, that is a seriously disturbing movie with a lot of comedic undertones. :)

Not sure that I can get into it since Bruce Campbell isn't the main character. The cheesy horror was part of the awesomeness

bubba ho tep was great ha ha i had forgotten about that one. the beetle is one of the best special effects iv seen it was so realistic ha ha.

Looks pretty killer....Huge Bruce Campbell fan, grew up on Evil Dead, even seen the Evil Dead Musical in Toronto (it does exist). Hope he makes a cameo, maybe an S-mart employee, explaining the finer aspects of a "boom stick". Shop smart...shop S-Mart

Has there been any Death Chats in here recently?

Perhaps we should hold a Death Boycott on the eve of the movie opening:eek:

:D

Bruce has stated he won't make a cameo, however, Raimi has already started writing Army of Darkness 2, starring Bruce! It was on Ain't it cool last week.

I was just thinking of posting "Army of Darkness 2 starring Bruce Campbell would be the greatest movie of all time" while I was reading people's responses...

I'm cool either way. :D :D :D

I don't know why, but I had always thought AoD was a different story altogether until I saw Evil Dead in it's entirety. Evil Dead 2 was just Evil Dead 1 with a higher budget (no change in the story, not a true sequel), right?

i think army of darkness was the all time best bruce campbell flick out there.

You took the words out of my mouth. BTW what kind of bike is that in your avatar? I'm getting the bug again and I'm thinking it won't be long before I'm back on a bike, tearing up the mountains...

Yeah, that's what I thought at first, but I'll still give it a shot since it's from the producers of the original. Hell, if nothing else to pay homage and boost the ticket sales to bolster the franchise with the likeliness that Bruce Campbell will return. AoD2 sounds waaaaaaay better though now that I know about it.

You can't have Bruce Campbell and have it not be cheesy  I know I'm a little on the younger side and most of the Busse clan members aren't digital boys that grew up on video games, but did anyone else play the Evil Dead games on maybe Playstation1 or 2? They continued the story after AoD with Ash as the guy you play and he was voiced by Bruce Campbell. It was a while ago, so I'm a little foggy (wikkipedia time!), but I remember I really liked where they took the story and even a little disappointed that it never even at least made it on to TV. Ash says some funny things when he's mowing down demons with a handheld chain gun :D

I am so excited, I'm just hoping that it holds up to all the hype that is being built around it. When I first saw the red-band preview for it a screamed with excitement in the theatre, needless to say there were a few people staring at me. I loved the first one when I was younger and I when I saw that it was on netflix I had to watch it again for the sake of the new one coming so soon! I can't wait!

The Evil Dead movie series are in my top 10 horrors, the one liners, the dark comedy of the first movie, it actually was scary when I first watched it (early teens).

But a remake? Leave classics alone IMO.

Rarely is a remake better than the original and it just grasps me as lazy.

Huge horror movie fan. I'm gonna go see this Friday. I'm usually apprehensive about remakes but this one does look good and creepy.
