I agree with you on all of this. I do wish more people could be kinder and more considerate. I do wish more people would think before they post. I do wish people could keep criticism constructive and brief, rather than ranty and petulant. It would be the best for everyone. What I was trying to get at with "KAI doesn't need to produce knives for us", is that they could have never been created and then there would be no KAI at all. There wouldn't be any Kershaw, Zero Tolerance, or Shun. Then all of this criticism would be avoided, and you and I wouldn't be voicing our opinion.
Again, I agree with most everything that you said, but when people start to criticize KAI, they don't have to do it like this "this knife is complete crap, and i will never buy another knife from kai again. i don't understand why anybody would want to buy something like this." Don't you think it would be a lot nicer for KAI to produce a better product then they already do if the criticism was constructive? Now I know that every part of criticism that KAI receives isn't going to be all fine and dandy. There are going to be people that criticize EVERYTHING that someone does. Whether everyone likes a product from a company, there will always be that one person that will hate/doesn't like it. That doesn't mean they have to go on and constantly rant about that product. I'm sure someone from that company has already seen the rant/complaint that person posted. I'm sure that company will try their best to address that issue. I'm just trying to say that some people need to try and keep their mouth shut, and if they really feel like they need to stand up and say something, then do it constructively. For example, and this is something I don't like about the Skyline "Dear Kershaw, if you ever decide to release another Skyline, would you take into consideration to make the pocket-clip ride a little deeper in the tip-up position." That's all I'm trying to say, people need to realize that ranting isn't going to get you very far. If you constructively criticize a company about something they make like I just did, then you'll probably hear a response that you like a lot better.
People also need to ask themselves this "Is this really worth complaining?". I think if people did that, then it would save a lot of people a lot of trouble. Sometimes you have to just deal with something. You may not like it, but that's just how the cookie crumbles. I would prefer to carry my Skyline tip-up, but I don't because in my opinion, to much of the knife is sticking out. I just tell myself to deal with it, and move onto other things.
All I'm suggesting is that perhaps the jerks are handled a bit differently. If they didn't say anything of value, just ignore them. If you suspect the post is trolling, report it. Let the mods handle people that just want to sling mud and not contribute.
Pick and choose your battles. Just because a comment is negative, doesn't necessarily mean it was intended to antagonize. Give people the benefit of the doubt before lifting the torches and pitchforks.
The page-long, gang-up outburst with all the wails about Thomas and the finger pointing over every little comment is what attracts these guys and keeps them coming back. They like the outrage.
