Anyone else get that "the one" knife on your mind, but then buy other knives instead?

For me it's a Hinderer XM18 3" non-flipper. I keep getting side tracked with buying custom scales and also a recent order for a Spyderco Southard. Oh... and I also have my eye on the new Sebenza 25!

Knife Fever. Very closely related to Gun Fever. There is no known cure for either, only occasional temporary relief depending on the size of your bank account.

I just did it again. Pulled the trigger on a Spyderco Southard using my Hinderer money.

Yep, I really want the Benchmade Gold Class Griptillian and I have had a few chances to buy one but did not. I regret not pulling the trigger when they sell to someone else.

Yep. I've wanted an Al Mar Falcon Ultralight for years, and I've bought many knives since, some even more expensive. Can't explain it.

Peter Rassenti Druid. i saw the sculpted Ti integral, but i really wanted the regular one. Then i missed that one on the exchange!

Hahaha - I've done it twice since starting this thread. I still don't own a Spyderco Techno and I have absolutely no excuse anymore :)

Don't bother getting the Techno. I've had three of them NIB, and sold 'em all. Never used a one. Nice folder, though. It seems like I buy 'em new, sell 'em new, and never use them. Good trading material, I guess. Bummer.

Wow! I do this all the time. I'll really want to buy a certain knife but can't pull the trigger because of the price or whatever. Then I'll go and buy 2 that add up to the cost of the one I really wanted. I do the same thing with guns too. Crazy

I have wanted a BUCK Vantage Pro since they came out and have bought everything but (almost).

Some double the price of the Vanatge. In the back of my mind I guess I think it will always be available.
Probably going to get burned with that mindset.

Lol.. Did it again.

This time on a BUCK 124. I used the "Limited Edition" rational.:D

I want a CRK Large Sebenza Insingo with Micarta Inlays but I always end up spending the money on something else...and they also seem a bit difficult to find brand new as I think they are discontinued. Perhaps I should go looking again...

That's the story of my life... I don't think I have any knives that my heart was set on.. every single one was an impulse buy...

Sigh... I bought a couple of Para-2s for trade-fodder to get a Techno, but they were black-coated blades (I don't like coated blades so I figured I could trade one or both for something cool).

Ended up selling one to a member of a local Oklahoma forum for what I paid for it since he missed out on the deal and didn't have a nice folder yet, and I like the other one enough that I'm keeping it.

Then I bought my old Galyean Pro Series JYD (small) back instead of buying a Techno.

So essentially I went way over budget this month and I still have no Techno. I need a 12-step program.

Well, this is the one I absolutely crave, but because of enormous cost, and on and off availability, keep buying other budget-friendly knives. Mick Strider Custom SMF Cobalt Damascus: http://www.gpknives.com/mickstriderc...tdamascus.html

I did this with the Strider SNG.
I talked myself out of it even though I had wanted it really bad.
Then I sulked but eventually realized how I really looked at the SNG, and now I don't really want it lol.

So in that case, I'm glad I held off.

But in a real situation where I have put off a knife and got something else instead but know I should have gotten what I wanted to begin with, Yes, I've done that a few times. And always ended up getting the most wanted knife eventually, and doing nothing with the ones I bought instead. =/ I guess it's just how it works.

I finally gave in and ordered the Gayle Bradley that's been calling me; I think it was seeing the carbon fiber scales on a youtube review that triggered it. Should be here tomorrow. There's also a JYD II barking at me in the back of my mind...

Yes this is also an issue for me. And the "Exchange" is the reason why, I am addicted to watching the "Exchange" like some people are with Facebook. I have a knife in mind and then someone posts a good deal and "poof" I suddenly contract amnesia and forget about the knife I really want. This is why I had over 20 Spydies before I bought my first Manix 2!!!!

I think I have a system that will work now though. I have decided to make a list of 12 knives I really want and buy one per month (if funds are available). I can change the knives I want for any month except for the existing month, thus giving me some flexibility. We'll see how this goes.... :p
