Anyone Else Joining the Minutemen?

We have a few militias here protecting againsed illeagle border crossing. Americans do not need passports to cross into canada. I am afraid terrorists who hate canadian freedoms will use the united states as a point of entry into canada. This border is just as big a problem as your southern one. Here in BC Americans come across smuggleing guns we dont want and taking away the marijuana we do want. Meanwhile from the other side its just as bad, they are taking guns you want to keep out of your country and brining marijuana you dont want in. Not to mention the army deserters and people fleeing from 20 year jail sentances for posetion of a joint. We really dont want them.

Hi, neighbor to the north.

Actually, they close down the Canadian border because all the border guards leave when it looks like a dangerous and/or armed individual is coming their way. There was a recent news story on it here. It looks as if Canada is considering giving its border guards guns now because of this.

Seriously though. I'm not exactly sure what the point of the militias down there are, are you trying to stop drug smuggeling or just illeagle imigrants? What do you do when you find some poor dehydrated family crossing the desert? Call INS, turn them around? If your goal is to stop drug smugglers I would sugjest leaving that to the profesionals, a bunch of rednecks with shotguns(this is not what I think bwray of whom I have the upmost respect, this is merely the preconseption I had of militia members) are not going to stop orginized crime. As for imagrants whats the big deal I thought the US was founded on the principle that people could come from worse contries to make a better life for themselves. The american dream and all that, isnt that what these poor mexicans are striving for. What happened to the sign reading "bring me your poor, your weak, your downtrodden, your huddled masses yearning to breath free" does it now read "sorry we're full"? I would be afraid of anti-imigrant sentiment if I lived in the States, in europe openly racist governments have been elected on dislike for imigrants, that way lies facism. If you believe in free market capitalism you by definition must allow for the free movment of people as labour is a comodity like any other. If you are worried about the exploitation of these imigrants in the US make it easier for them to become citizens(this is what most of them really want). Can you really deny someone else the freedoms and rights you charish so much based on the location of their birth? I'm pretty sure it reads "All men are created equal" not "All american are created equal". Seems a little odd that I could imigrate to the states pretty easily becuase I wouldnt benifit from it but thoes who truely need it cannot.

All politics aside stay safe out there bwray, I wish you the best of luck, watch out for racists.

If you come across some mexicans that are going to be deported send them up here I'll smuggle them into canada.

Gord

Gord,

I could be wrong, but I believe Canada is way more restrictive on being able to immigrate LEGALLY.

We'll take all that BC bud we can get:thumbup: :D

Canadian border guards done have bang bang's ???

your kidding right?

No guns . I don,t even think they have a baton of any kind . They might have pepper spray as we are kinda big on that non-lethal stuff . After all no one would lie to a border guard ?

P:S: Hollow ? Get your own ! L:O:L

Bill?

Illegal immigration aside, I've read and heard nearly unbelievable things about what occasionally goes on in some border areas. It involves people in Mexican army uniforms with appropriate gear, up to and including crew served weapons. I'm not aware of things becoming violent but when people with guns are standing each other off...well, things happen sometimes.

Nothing there is worth your life. Keep this in mind and take care of yourself, hear?

And edited to add: not everything that's morally right is legally right. Again, keep this in mind and take care of yourself.

Who said 'watch out for racists'? ARe they roving in large packs now, or what???!!!

Bwray, If I were living in a border state, I would join the Minutemen - or some border watch group. Good for you.

I commend you for the action you are taking. I wish I could do the same. Please be careful. Ilegals and cyotes have nothing to lose. You do.

My point of view feels no sympathy for those that illegally cross into our country, knowing it is against our laws.

Drug smuggling is a whole other issue.

Thanks for the many gestures of support and kind advise with regard to staying safe. I will be very careful and keep everyone posted about what is actually going on down there. I'm really curious myself to see what kind of training is offered and how well organized the overall effort really is. I've been pretty impressed with interviews I've seen of the leadership. They seem to be very sensitive politically and are oriented towards not provoking any kind of confrontation. We will see. Thanks again guys.

Found the following on the Minutemen homepage:

"The Minuteman Project (MMP) is a citizens' Vigilance Operation monitoring immigration, business, and government."

"MMP has no affiliation with, nor will we accept any assistance by or interference from, separatists, racists, or supremacy groups or individuals, no matter what their race, color, or creed."

This disclaimer is absolutely critical for my involvement with the group. If I ever see it violated it will be sayonara.

Wasnt gonna comment on this but here is a quicky

I would join the Minutemen in a second if I were near the border...That being said, my problem isnt with the immigrants...Illegal or otherwise

My problem is those that give them a job...

Here is an example

As it stands NOW I work for around 150 people at my real job...

here is the breakdown

10% White

8% Black

82% Hispanic

So that is around 123 Hispanic's in one place...

Of those, we have speculated that around 85% of those are illegal and using fake names and SSN's..

Does managment know?? Yup they even joke about it

This is what we need to fight...contact your Congress critter and tell them to vote YES for making it a felony to enter the country illegally and make the sanction's against companies that hire illegals very harsh...

This is the only way we will ever do ANYTHING about illegal immigration

Yo Kevin,
I have wanted to visit Canada for along time...now I know I can just wander over the border and make myself at home...hmm ME as an illegal alien...AHHH the fun I could have with that!;)

Canadien women are HOT!

They seem like a pretty mixed group. I bet they'd even let a munk in.

Come on up Leatherface, there are some stretches of border that are totaly unpatroled, monitored by cameras.

PS the women are hot because the winters are cold, need to stay warm.

That may depend on whether "munk" is taken in the monastic sense or the simian sense or as unrelated to either.:D;)

Seriously though, I like the mixed composition, partly for social reasons, but also because it renders charges of rascism absolutely groundless.

I absolutely agree that that is the main problem and should be the main focus for resolving the problem. But, it is a pressure point that can only be addressed by the government, and we already know the government has been bought and paid for by those who want the cheap labor. So, ordinary citizens are forced to look elsewhere for effective pressure points. The advantage of focusing on the border is that that is where the illegal employment problem has it's origin. It also is an approach that has high publicity value because it embarasses the authorities by pointing up the ineffectiveness of their efforts and leads to pointed questions about why their activities are so ineffective. In terms of actually halting the illegal flow across the border, the Minutemen don't do that, nor should they attempt it. They support the authorities by "monitoring" the problem and providing data to those who would oppose illegal immigration in congress. I believe that, right now, the Minutemen are the best option available for ordinary citizens seeking to pressure the government into enforcing the law of the land.

You guys got a tough job and even tougher decisions to make . Certainly something needs to be done . It has been said that if good men do not act then bad men will act in their place . I think that there is even more to this than just keeping illegals out . Truly that is just the tip of the iceberg While prudence and control must be maintained if you do not act who will act for you ?.

We have not collectively discussed the border in what? 40 years? The politicians and media and industry movers have all left this alone. And like all things, issues and ideas have a time and a place. The border may finally be having it's time and place in our consideration as a society in the United States.

The two party system has never been more at odds. The illegal immigration issue is clouded by special interests, both monitary and political. I don't see anything good coming soon, but when normal people start joining things like the 'Minutemen"; change is on the way, because all other avenues have been frustrated and something is gonna break.
