Anyone else not quite "feeling it" anymore?

It's been months since I bought my last knife and I made that purchase after selling more expensive knife.

That "magic" of wanting and getting something gas been gone for a while.

It's always something. It's either the price or the fact that I already have a knife for that which is about as good or even better for the task.

After getting S390 custom for 300€ and using it and knowing I can get the same in 3V, 4V or CruWear for about the same price (if I wanna wait for few months) - all expensive production knives now just don't look special anymore.

After using Mora Robust, I just sold Fallkniven F1. And it's hard to justify spending a lot on a knife of similar size.

Getting MagnaCut? - why would I?
I have 3 larger fixed blades in CPM-3V, S390 and SK5 and folders in VG10, S35VN and K390. What can MagnaCut do so much better than those in either fixed blade or folder?

I would want to get something, but nothing is special or exciting anymore... so I keep looking and I just don't want to get anything I see.

Why use a golden spoon when a wooden spoon scoops just as well? It can easily be applied to knives, computers, cars. They are all competing to be the top 3 best performing but after a while it doesn't matter anymore, a knife is a knife is a knife.
For me, swiss army knives humbled me, after 15+ years I learned what I really use a knife for, and I don't need a battle horse knife when a tinker does the deed

Some folks just shouldn't belong to a knife enthusiast website...populated by...well, knife enthusiasts.

(Since I need to raise money for my next purchase, I'll be accepting gratuities to ban anyone who no longer wants to be a member. But you better make your excuse a good one. Damn commies. ;) )

(Disclaimer: That was a joke...for the humor impaired among you.)

Agreed! LOL! ;)

BTW, I'm still "feeling it" because I mainly collect older & harder to find knives like these & I keep finding more like them to add to my collection:

Mid 70yo and been collecting ~50years , so , yes ...feelings are "less intense" . ;)

Still having a blast with this thing , recently acquired :

A huge and vicious , but amazingly smooth and fidgety, Cold Steel folder ! :thumbsup:

I'm not feeling quite as "lost" about it, but, yeah, I get the situation. I still have a list of knives I would like to pick up, but no urgency about any of them.

I still like to look at knives, and talk about knives. I also have an array of cutting tools that serve in any realistic scenario, and not an unlimited budget to spend on unrealistic scenarios.

I'm trying to focus on making my own, instead. I don't have the tools or the commitment to make a serious go of it, but I haven't given up yet, either.

Kinda been there for a while too, but my enthusiasm for this site and its people make up for it. Still keep my eye out for the next "must have", but they are getting fewer and farther. Have way more knives than I could ever use, and plan to do some downsizing.

So...that explains it. Kierkegaard was a knife collector. Of course!
I think Sartre would be a worse cutlery enthusiast:

"It rained today in Paris. It always seems to rain here. Heidegger is always pulling out his stainless steel blade that never seems to be sharp. I pull out my A2 knife and it is sharp, but always rusty, so rusty. The corrosion of my blade matches the slowly corroding husk that is my body, that is my soul."

"God damn it, Sartre! I just asked if you had a knife to cut a piece of cord. I'm going to ask Camus. Sure, he'll have some knife that looks like it was designed by someone on drugs, but he'll get to the cutting part before I die of old age."

I haven't lost it.

I've doubled down.

I want a knife which was made in each of my United States.

15 out of 50, so far.

Less production, more custom in my future. I know, I know.

After knocking out some medical bills, I'll continue on.

David Mary, Les George, Winkler et al my list...
