Just wanted to drop a line about some custom knives I've been extremely impressed with! There is a custom knifemaker named Ken Heafner of "www.heafnerknives.com" he makes some of the best camp/field dressing/skinning knives around (my opinion :-) He primarily uses D2 Tool steel and all his blades also get a full cryo treat! I own one of his model #4's a model #3 and a couple of his big Model#17 camp/survival bowie, BTW- this thing blows the Cold Steel Carbon V Trailmaster out of the water in terms of chopping & edge holding, and seemed to a more efficient chopper than my buddy's SR battlerat, the only knife in my experience that seemed to fair better in the chopping catagory was the 5/16" Cold Steel Gurkha. The specs on the big bowie are: the handle has micarta Slabs(standard) with stainless steel pins thats 6" long / the blade is D2 Steel with a matte finish, and is 8" long x 9/32" thick x 2" wide, all for around $250.00!! I don't know of any custom knife makers that give You this quality of a knife for that kind money(except maybe Entrek) Anyway.... just wanted to give a heads up for anyone looking for some great knives for camping/hunting etc...
Also, Kens a real SOLID GUY to deal with!

Thanks for looking.
