Anyone else preordering Windows 7?

I'm not bashing XP or MSFT. I tried Vista, both Beta and the final release. I tried 7 in Beta.

7 is a dressed up Vista. XP is a much better OS, and look for MSFT to support it for another 10 years at least.

I'm an MS guy. I can't stand Apples OS, but Vista (and I have used it extensively) is just god awful. Win7 is just a far less annoying version of Vista (I have used Win7.).
Any abuse MS gets for that train wreck of an OS is well earned, it takes a lot of time and effort to screw something up that thoroughly. They way I see it, MS didn't know what to do, so they did something wrong.

MVF...

Hey I actually know a couple of people who work for Microsoft and worked on Vista and hate it!
I'm far from being a mac fan boy. I have one. It's amazingly stable and robust. I'd have never gotten one however without vista. Sorry for bursting your bubble but in the IT field vista is a pretty hated entity. It sucks plain and simple.
Microsoft forgot how to efficiently and successfully run itself a while ago and has been cutting its throat and ticking people off in the process. I can't tell you how many small/medium size business's that I know that are dumping MS for open source software and have even looked at transitioning to various other OS's as Microsoft put out half working software with major security issues and still wanted you to pay through the nose for them. That's also not taking into account their failed extortion attempt at the software subscription push.
Dump on vista??? Nope it's not really about vista. Vista and I'm afraid win7, are the symptoms of the mess that MS is. Working with Vista I actually miss dos & 3.0 :)

Sorry for the rant, but I've used Microsoft stuff my whole life, pretty much trouble free (as has most of the world). My brother started on Macs and is now on PCs and when my sister got a Mac and I finally got to check Apple's gift to the world, I thought it sucked! It was slower than I could stand and was anything but "intuitive". Still, if you like Macs, have at them, but you shouldn't need to bash Microsoft to make yourselves feel better!

It's not a matter of bashing MS or being an Apple fanboy. If anything, I like Macs even less than you seem to. MS's problem, and why so many of us would never think to pre-order, is that even their most successful operating systems initially launched with hundreds of security vulnerabilities and glaring compatibility and stability issues. And I'm definitely not even talking about Vista or, :foot:, Millenium.

If you're willing to accept the very real risk of this, even the likelihood, then, by all means, pre-order. For myself, and apparently a lot of other people here, I'll stick with what I know already works.

Now that there's so much remote command and control functions built into the chipsets and CPUs the powers that be may not need such a buggy Microsoft OS anymore. ;)
