Anyone else stoked for the new Kershaw/Emerson collaborations?!?!?

Well I don't really carry my Iphone with pride. You gotta draw the line somewhere.

So why do you need an Iphone and not some other, cheaper phone? Afterall, if it's all about the principles, you shouldn't be carrying one of those either?

Because it's an apple collaboration and no US made phones are available that I know of haha.

Dammit... Good to here about Motorola though.

International business is vital nowadays. Even if you're knife is assembled in your home country, who's to say the materials aren't imported? Crucible industries likely mines its minerals and ore all over the world. Some of the chemicals used to manufacture the epoxy resin in the G10 on your favorite American made custom knife may have been imported. There is no way of knowing. If you don't like foreign made knives that's fine. Just don't think you're somehow putting this country in better standings by only buying domestic assembled products. These knives are made by a Chinese manufacturer, commissioned by Kershaw(American), who is in turn owned by KAI(Japanese), in collaboration with Emerson(American).

If a product is good, then it's good. I don't really care about non-intrinsic attributes. There is no correlations between build quality and manufacture location. You need only look at Emerson and Taichung Spydercos to see that.

It matters to people like me . I know the knives I use and carry are manufactured in the USA. These days there's only a limited number of products you can purchase that are made here. I will support companies that employ American workers, use American materials, and manufacture in America. I won't buy chinese products licensed by them. When we all stop supporting our own manufacturing the middle class will be an endangered species.

Theirs only so much outsourcing of manufacturing this country as we know it can handle. Makes me sick .

Quite the opposite in my opinion. The cost of living is going up. As a result the middle class needs to buy commodities at cheaper prices. In order for the manufacturer to produced those commodities at cheaper prices they need expand overseas. If the US ceased the importation of foreign manufactured products the shortage would cause the prices of everything that remained to skyrocket. That would cripple the middle class.

Don't measure our country by how many assembly line employes we employ. We are technological leaders and have the best opportunities for those who would seek higher education. It is more noble to research, design, and engineer rather than to assemble.

More Noble? Troll much? What a crock. Try to engineer a better knife when your cutting douchebags with your Taichung haha. Good evening to you mam.

You'll need stronger arguments than that to justify your strong opinions. Good evening to you too.

I'm not American but I buy US knives because I like the knife in question the same way I hope Americans want to buy knives made in my country due to the quality of the knives themselves.

In my experience "US made" can mean anything from amazing quality to "meh" to "seriously?". Same as China, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, Sweden or anywhere. I trust people rather than nationality, I find the people at reputable brands give me good stuff for my money.

That being said, I'm looking forwards to these. Kershaw QC is excellent regardless of country of manufacture and while I have one Emerson (an 8) I'm more keen on the aesthetics than Emersons regular design philosophy.

Just got my CQC-4k from Dave (Kershaw Guy)! I am blown away. For the money this knife blows them all out of the water. Nearly flawless in every way. Perfect centering, solid lockup, no stickyness, very smooth action, liners are level with the scales, everything is great. The factory grind is a bit of a mess, yet it's sharp. The G10 does not feel like the american G10 found on the Skylines. It's not very grippy, but for me thats not really a bad thing. It feels like worn out 400 grit sand paper. Overall finish is nice.

The material quality is what you'd expect for the price, but the build quality and attention to detail is better than what you get from Emerson Inc in my opinion.

Thanks for the review Moxy! I have been trying to limit my knife buying as I want to get an insingo CRK at the end of the summer. But I keep thinking about how much I would enjoy one of these waved Kershaw/Emerson collabs. The price is so reasonable for getting something with the wave on it!

Does the thumbdisk open it up just as easy as a stud? I've never played with a knife with a thumbdisk that I can recall.
