I have worn western boots much of my life, well since about 15 or so, but not any for the last 10 years. I broke down and got a pair of Nocona Elk in a nice tan color. A good fit is everything and when you find a good fitting pair they are as comfortable as slippers. These are really light and feel like they will be keepers. Does anyone else enjoy a good pair of cowboy boots? Pics welcomed -

I have had about eight pairs of cowboy boots in my lifetime but none of them have fit real well. I really like the idea of them but I just can never get a good fit....I will keep trying, though. What is the secret?

ever since that movie " Bareback Mountain " came out, i just cant imagine wearing the cowboy stuff.

I've been wearing them since I was about 8 years old..

Those are great lookin boots, I like the Elk. My current rotation is two pairs of Tony Lamas I had for about 15 years. One pair gray and one pair just a little darker than your Elk boots.
I had the brown ones re-soled a few years back, but the boots hold up extremely well...

My absolute favorite pair looked almost like your Elk boots. I wore them hard for about 5 years. Riding and roping, wearing them in the fields etc. I absolutely abused those boots and they were the most comfortable ones I've ever owned.
They finally had to be retired to the big boot maker in the sky. Even the uppers were flat wore out.

I have a pair of snakeskin Abilene boots that are the flat out, most comfortable pair of boots that I've ever owned.I have a pair of Acme boots in black and another pair, don't remember the maker and they're a weird color, blue and purple,I don't remember for sure, they were a gift from an ex girlfriend that thought they were cool.I also have a pair of Boulet lacers that I really like a lot.

I wear cowboy boots most of the time. I must have 7 or 8 pair, mostly Tony Lama or Lucchese. Easily the most comfortable ones are a 20 yr old pair of TL elephant from back when they still made an E width.

I have a high instep and some great ol' big calves, so I can't get my feet in most cowboy boots. I've been told that Dan Post boots would accommodate the shape and size of my feet very well, but I don't have the scratch right now.

I usually wear side-zip engineer boots or a battered pair of Brahma work boots.

I got into Western boots years ago when I was helping my Dad clean out a closet. I found this beautiful pair of Luccheses in the back that I never knew he owned. On a whim I tried them on and they fit like a glove. He told me they had been a gift from some associates when he had sealed a business deal in Texas decades ago. He related that they were great boots but he hadn't worn them in years. He further said they were mine if I wanted them.

From there, I got a more casual pair for everyday walking around: a pair of brown Ariats.

The Luccheses are dressier so I wear them to work and on special occasions. To be honest, I've never spent much on clothing, so they're probably the nicest article of clothing that I wear.

You should also make sure you don't wear jeans or use any guns. Oh, and don't go on any fishing trips with your buddies: people might get the wrong idea. If you want to let media dictate who you are or what you do, go for it.

I've gotten many compliments on my plain "distressed" Ariats (usually from the fairer sex). No one has ever made a Brokeback joke. On the contrary, a number of men have inquired where I got my boots and I've found with women they make for a great conversation starter (if she notices, I mean). I live in an East-Coast city where no one wears footwear like this.

Plus, it's funny running into old friends and having them say, "You know, you were never short, but you've gotten a lot taller!" :D

:eek::eek::eek:

Get a rope.

I like wearing boots when I can find ones that fit. 7Quad E's are hard to come by.

I don't wear them, but I still appreciate the fine artform of making them. There are a lot of very gifted bootmakers out there.

Paul Bond boots from Nogales, AZ. Google them and check out the styles. I have several pair and they are absolutely the finest boots I have.

Growing up, especially through junior high and high school, I had chronic (almost incurable) athlete's foot. I remember the skin literally falling out from between my toes in long strips. Smelled awful. Antifungal cremes helped some but it was never truly cleared up. Little did I know it was due to my feet rotting in the "stylish" basketball-type sneakers of the era.

My town had a western store that had an annual boot sale. Folks used to come from miles around, we're talking HUNDREDS of miles to get to this boot sale. Since my dad was a college instructor, he had to have presentable footwear. So about the time he'd get a pair of boots worked in real good, he'd go to the boot sale and start all over. This resulted in a closet ram packed with western style boots in generally good to great condition. One year's wear (especially at a school) is nothing to a good pair of Noconas.

One evening I was going to go out with some friends and decided to forego the sneakers and dug out a pair of Dan Post boots from my dad's collection. After that night I started wearing the boots more often. They were so comfortable! Then, like magic, my foot fungus was gone. Gone! No more smelly feet. I don't think I've owned over five pairs of sneakers since then and that's been twenty years ago. I see those sneakers are making a comeback and I feel for the ignoratti that wears them. Itchy, smelly, rotten feet are NEVER in style.

Since I live in The West, I suppose my new boots are 'Western':

These are my backpacking boots. Made in Oregon - can't get much farther west than that:

Tony Lamas, Naconas and White's lace-up packers are favorites. That's Noconas, same as my baseball glove.

Do these count?

I wear these every day.

Of course! Where else would I wear my boot knife? :D

I switch off between a pair of Tony Lamas (leather sole for office/social) and a pair of Double-Hs (oil resistant rubber sole for work/shop). Sizing was a pain in the rear for me. Generally, most 12EEs fit even though I'm a 13/47 for regular shoes.

If I'm not wearing a boot it's a shoe or sneaker made by Ecco.
