Anyone else wear wester boots?

My wife is a long-time equestrian (equestrienne?) and swears by her Ariats. Don't know why I've never tried any for myself, but then I prefer my "steed" without a will of its own. Horses are for people who aren't inherently suspicious of others' motives.

I have to agree. I rode a horse once and just couldn't really trust the thing.

I have a pair of cowboy boots I wear around the city sometimes. They're comfortable, but the sole just isn't made for cement, and wears too quickly, and they don't have the tread for any kind of hiking. I've thought about getting them resoled with Vibram or similar soles.

Most of the time I wear a pair of knee high steel-toed black leather boots by Demonia, like these:

Long time no see Jason ;) (forgot to add ... this is solidsoldier)

How do those things hold up? I'm liking the ones with the sheath but they seem kinda impractical unless you keep your pants bloused into your boots all the time.

Growing up, especially through junior high and high school, I had chronic (almost incurable) athlete's foot. I remember the skin literally falling out from between my toes in long strips. Smelled awful. Antifungal cremes helped some but it was never truly cleared up. Little did I know it was due to my feet rotting in the "stylish" basketball-type sneakers of the era.

My town had a western store that had an annual boot sale. Folks used to come from miles around, we're talking HUNDREDS of miles to get to this boot sale. Since my dad was a college instructor, he had to have presentable footwear. So about the time he'd get a pair of boots worked in real good, he'd go to the boot sale and start all over. This resulted in a closet ram packed with western style boots in generally good to great condition. One year's wear (especially at a school) is nothing to a good pair of Noconas.

One evening I was going to go out with some friends and decided to forego the sneakers and dug out a pair of Dan Post boots from my dad's collection. After that night I started wearing the boots more often. They were so comfortable! Then, like magic, my foot fungus was gone. Gone! No more smelly feet. I don't think I've owned over five pairs of sneakers since then and that's been twenty years ago. I see those sneakers are making a comeback and I feel for the ignoratti that wears them. Itchy, smelly, rotten feet are NEVER in style.

yup i wear nothing but leather boots (loggers, work, hikers, etc. Have NEVER had stink feet, even after two weeks hiking in summer with the same pair wool socks. Just smelled like leather. I HAD to buy some runners for and old workplace, and god i was miserable. Reeking feet and fungus. I quit, they would'nt let me wear leatehr shoes.

Discovered these boots, from Australia,Blundstone's some 5 Years ago.
Best shoe/boot I have ever had, once broken in that is. :D

Yeah, I've worn them for much of my life. Nocona, Dan Post, Luchese and even the no names..... I usually wear out the leather soles quickly and then have them re-soled with a semi-vibram sole. Still low profile, but with the vibram lug. Lasts much longer than the factory sole.

Justin's are my daily wear and I'm eyeing a pair of Tony Lamas. I've worn boots all my life, except for sports.

I wear a pair of Double-Hs daily:

Most comfortable boots I ever owned.

You can either wear your pants inside the boots, or outside. I prefer pants inside the boots, but have worn them outside for work.

They hold up well. The ones with the sheath I EDC'd for about three years.

I wear Redwing Steel Toes and my double stitched ostrich Tony Lamas pretty much daily. I need to get a new pair though, my Tony Lamas are pushing 7yrs. Nothing beats a good pair of boots.
