I've been exchanging e-mails with the guy at that site about a knife that is currently out of stock, but he says he'll have more in in a couple of weeks. He also said that he expects to be sold out again within a week or two after he gets them, because there are larger companies waiting for him to get them in stock so they can buy them. I asked if it would be possible to reserve one (I won't have the $300 by two weeks from now), and he said "Because it is you, I'll reserve one for up to two months for 25% of the cost." (that's $75)

The thing that makes me nervous, is he says "Because it is you." I have no special relationship to this guy, hell, he's only known me for two days through three or four e-mails. Normally when a salesman says something like this it's to make the customer feel special and more willing to buy, but unless this guy is a liar (which makes him untrustworthy), all of the knives will be sold in less than half the time he's willing to reserve one, so why would be be saying that for propaganda?

Should I trust him?
 
I just did business with them yesterday, all I can say is :D ! I ordered a credit card knife for $15, but had mistakenly selected the most expensive shipping, I was shocked at the $30 shipping charge. So I called at the man who answered the phone was very nice, he downgraded the shipping and saved me $26! There was no hassle what so ever. From now on I am going to try to do all of my shopping with them. I hope this helps.
 
Phil is one of the good guys. His word is as good as gold. I've had plenty of dealings with him and you will not go wrong dealing with him.

Every dealing I have had with Phil and 2thehilt has been positive. As stated above, he is a man of his word. I highly recommend.

Phil is a pretty guy to deal with. If he gave you his word he'll do it I suspect!!!! I bought a knife from him a year ago and he was very forthright in communication.:) Personally if there was something I was interested that he had I would do business with him again.
 
I sure as hell would do business the Phil anytime. He is a freat guy and a man of his word. I have done about four deals with Phil, and you can not do any better.

By the way, Phil takes care of his customers, even if you are a first time buyer. He is not like a used car salesman, he is doing you a favor with what seems to be a "lay-away" type option. Good for him, he is willing to hold the product until you can have all the funds, it is nicer than some other dealers out there. I believe Phil's intention is good, and you should not feel threatened by it.
 
Im justr guessing here. Maybe he said the "Because its you..." because you are a member of BF. I have dealt with a dealer or two who tend to take care of forumites. They take care of all customers well of course, but make double sure a forumite gets first rate service. Know what I mean?
 
Phil's a good guy! Deal with confidence! A search in GB&U should clear up any doubts next time...

If he's willing to hold this knife for you, and at only 25% down, he is doing you a huge favor, and you should take advantage of his offer, and have no fear of losing your money.

Phil is a member dealer here at BFC, and he is willing to do what he can for the members here.

You simply cannot go wrong.
 
He was trying to do you a favor. Do yourself one and buy the knife from him. Phil is as good as it gets, end of story.
