Anyone ever gone without a knife for a day?

The few times I've had to be without a knife I've typically both felt extremely disconcerted but also had my car parked right outside the building, with a knife in that. Or when flying and it's in my luggage and goes right in my pocket upon disembarking. It's such a vital tool that, like others have said, it's like losing a limb. Even if I were travelling in a country where it was illegal I'd probably try to at least hide a micro-knife on me somewhere, like the Spyderco Honeybee I keep on my key ring.

Ewwwwww.......not having a knife on me causes a physical reaction. Makes my stomach churn.

There have been times I have forgotten to take a certain knife with me, but its a rare occasion to find me without at three on me.

Flying is the only time I don't have one, and as soon as I get my bag, its the first order of business.

Yes, it happens to me every now and again. Any time I'm in a place where it wouldn't be wise to bring a knife (airplanes leap to mind), I leave it behind.

I've been known to have "Awww, ****" moments at work when I reach to get my knife from my front right pocket and It's not there, because I forgot to clip it on in the morning when I wasn't totally awake.

Not a whole day, but I had no pockets (and so no knife) last night when I went to a Halloween event. Felt awful... no knife, flashlight, lighter, pen/paper, etc... I don't know how sheeple do it!

I'd left my edc in my glove box for about 2 weeks once after leaving it there, never really needed it... that is until I received a book I had ordered online. It had one of those paper/bubble wrap packaging and I couldnt tear it open for the life of me! Reached in my pocket, and knife wasnt there. Went straight to my car and have been carrying it ever since.

Last weekend. Stuck in an airport overnight. Flight left at 5:40 p.m. central time and finally got our luggage at 10:00 a.m. eastern the next morning.

Last night, but only cause I was on a military base. Other than that, when I go into the courthouse.

Jury Duty.

Yep. I don't mind jury duty (I hate my job) but it really irks me not being able to carry a knife. Of course, after we get to know the cops who man the metal detectors and the bailiff's, they all just wave us on through anyway as we are coming and going. I think being American, it's a terrifying prospect, the idea of relying on someone else to "protect" me. I don't like it and I could NEVER live somewhere that it's the norm and not the exception. I generally avoid places I can't go if I am armed.

The other one is international travel. I hate not having a knife on me in transit. But once I get where I'm going, all bets are off...

I travel very frequently for work (mostly domestic, but occasionally to Japan). I always check my bag so I can have a knife with me. The TSA stole a BM 710 from me so I only travel with a Leek. However, the time in the airport and the flight make me feel stripped of something I'm very accustomed to. I think it's analogous to a teenager not having their iPhone for a day. BTW, you have no idea what you can sell a Leek for in Japan....provided it makes it there.

Yeah, I was in a hurry one morning and forgot to put my knives into my work pants.
I didn't even notice it at first, and was kinda shocked when I wanted to cut some bread for my breakfast.
Had to cut it with the dull knives we have in our office kitchen :barf:

While I am obsessed with knives I don't get much opportunity to use one, just doesn't happen. So if I forget (which is rarely) to put one in my pocket it is no biggie.

Basic training in the army and jury duty are the only times I've been without a knife. I have a little SAK classic on my keys, so I really can;t leave hone without a knife, if a small one. But there has been a few times I forgot to drop my knife in my pocket when I change to go someplace, and all I had was the Victorinox classic. It did whatever cutting I had to do. A small sharp blade will open packages, cut twine just as well as something bigger.

Put a small SAK on your keys and never be knife less again. Plus the SAK will give you scissors, small screw driver, nail file, tweezers and toothpick. Before you scorn them, the tweezers or toothpick will open most police handcuffs.

Cool but...
1. Why would I need to do that?
2. I have handcuff keys for that.
3. If you were handcuffed the cops are going to take all your stuff anyway.

They are pretty useful for removing splinters, though.
Its amazing what you can do with only an SAK

I want to hear from the guys who don't take them on Army bases...my wife was stationed at Ft Bliss (SGM Academy if it makes a difference) and I always had 2 clipped on me at all times.
