Anyone ever order from Botach Tactical?

I seem to recall reading negative things about them here and on other forums, but can't remeber specifics. I am thinking about ordering from them and wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

i haven't personally but i've read alot of horror stories on glocktalk about them.
taking forever to ship,shipping wrong item,taking your money(credit card) for items they don't have in stock without telling you they don't have it.

You can find very bad feedback about them on nearly every board.I had an unimpressive experience with them a long time ago but didn't lose anything other than my patience.Alot of other people haven't been as lucky,having to do chargebacks etc.I would suggest ignoring the urge to save a few bucks and shop elsewhere.
 
yep i agree with essav, i have gotten an item or 2 from them with no prob BUT i did make sure they had the item in stock first by calling them,
 
Some people have the idea if they call and ask whether the item is in stock before ordering, they're safe.

They must not have read all the posts reporting that when you ask them whether it's in stock they lie.
 
I'm one of those people that picks up the phone and calls. I have ordered several times without a hitch. Probably just lucky.

There are so many good knife dealers out there that I wouldn't even think of getting something from Botach. Even if Botach has a lower price I wouldn't consider it being worth the risk.

Esav was able to get results by phoning them, but I have read where people have phoned them multiple time and have had no luck getting things straightened out.

If you do order from them, do so knowing that you have been warned.
 
I had Botach charge my card for a Trijicon ACOG...then 2 months later still had not received my backordered sight. They were very tough to contact by phone but when I did...they told me Trijicon was behind in the production of that sight...so I called Trijicon and they said Botach was full of B.S.....so after several more weeks of failed calls....I finally contacted my credit card company and disputed it there.


There is a dishonest business practice of taking credit card orders....then waiting until a sufficient number of the same orders arrive to buy the item from the supplier in quantity to save money....all the while sitting on your money and growing interest. This is what Botach does....and calling them to see if something in stock is crap too....they are liars.

Spend the extra few dollars and go with a reputable company

I was looking at flashlights and battiers. They have the best price on the Streamlight Strion. I will probably get the Surefire G2 instead (from New Graham) though. But Botach also have a great price on li-123 batteries with free shipping. I have noticed when shopping online in the past that these guys have some really good prices, but from the sounds of it, I am better to spend a few more dollars and buy elsewhere. In my experience, costomer service is well worth an extra few % cost.

Batteries, BWHAHAH, a year or so ago in candlepower forums, a botach rep came in with a great battery deal, people said, we don't want you because of your poor/dishonext business practice.

They where convinced to give them an try, not too much time passed then the whole good deal on batteries turned out badly.

Yes, shop elsewhere!
 
I ordered a Blackhawk sheath about three years ago! After a few months of no sheath I called and inquired on the status of my order. They apologized and took another couple bucks off of the price. I love a good deal so I let it slide and have never received my sheath. To be fair, they never charged my card either. I don't think I'll ever bother with them again. :( :thumbdn:
 
I've never ordered from Botach. I had heard too many horror stories to even try a small order. Specifically, the stories came even before I signed up here and read even more terrors.

The people that work there are complete IDIOTS, They do not know the products they sell. They are also rude and half the time you can't understand what they say. :mad:

I placed about a $450.00 order with them in the fall of '03 and I will never buy from them again. I emailed and called twice to confirm everything would ship on the order I placed. I was told YES, YES and YES over the phone and when I got the order half the stuff was backordered. I had to call 2-3 times a week for over 16-18 weeks before I got the rest of the order. One item was missing and I was told I had to call UPS to track and see what happened to the item. I finally gave up and I'm still out the $100 the item cost me. For amount of time and money I spent calling them, I could have gotten the stuff at full retail prices and gotten a better deal elsewhere. The worst customer service I have ever received from any company anywhere!!! :barf: :barf: :mad: :(

STAY AWAY FROM BOTACH TACTICAL!!! THEY HAVE SOFT STOOL FOR BRAINS!!! :mad: :(
 
esav, why should it matter if they have something in stocke- assuming they really do, why support this co. at all, they have screwed so many good people they should'nt be rewarded or supported by anyone. But they continue to do business because there is always someone out there willing to take the risk just to save a few bucks, & those who actually have problem free deals will then encourage others :rolleyes:
 
Not doubting you guys at all, but I have been very fortunate in my dealings with them I guess. Last year ordered 2 knives that were supposedly out of production. After calling all over the country called them and the lady had me hold on the phone and went and checked stock and pulled the last of one model off the shelf and held it for me. Their price was also very fair.

Recently ordered some ASP Handcuffs and a couple of the Lagana Hawks from them; great prices on both.

Only negative experience this last time is the woman who answered was pretty clueless and just said she couldn't take the phone order and to order online. I did and got the hawks in only two days! Very fast shipping.

If I had to analyze the company I would guess that the owner has set up a good solid supply chain but that he has had several lousy employees that are wrecking his reputation.

In any case, I can't argue with the overall service I've had which has been excellent. Obviously YMMV for many of you, and it was only after I had ordered from them the first time that I heard about the horrible experiences others had had with them.

only reason i used them is they had some surefire stuff no one else had at the time,i agree if there are options on who to buy from i would use someone else myself too. i havent ever bought anything from them for a deal, only if they had it/no one else did.
 
Sounds like playing russian roulett you may get your order just fine or you might have a complete and costly mess on your hands. I'd rather go to someone that has an excellent rep like New Graham which I've never heard bad things about or 1sks or one of the dozens of other places on the net that while may not have the rock bottom prices will at least get you your stuff and not give you a line of BS .............
 
As I mentioned higher up, I won't be ordering from them. Customer service is important to me and worth an extra few dollars.
