• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Anyone ever use one these to sharpen your knives???

I just got a Ken Onion version in the mail a couple of days ago. So far I just did crappy kitchen knives, it works great. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS and there will be no tip rounding like everyone complains about. I keep watching vids and people are just totally ignoring the instructions & instructional video that comes with it & then they complain that they round their tips.

Stop the belt when you have the tip about 1/4 across, and follow the edge contour with your hand.

I haven't worked up the courage to stick a Microtech in it yet. If you do use it on a nice knife, use painters tape on the blade. The steel & abrasive dust that gets on the guides can scratch your blade.

I've done an Emerson Endeavor and a Strider SnG with my KOWS. Like you said... follow the instructions and work slowly and there won't be any problems.

Update:
I decided to sharpen a pretty damned sharp Venom 2 at 20 degrees, it's now much duller. :(
I suppose I'll have to work on it a bit. Damnit.

It's all technique and practice. I put a razor sharp edge on a machete with grandpa's old bench stone today. Once you figure it out and get a good understanding of what you want to do, an edge is an edge with with a different handle.
