Ruger's new Charger may have some merit. It's very light (I've handled it, but not with a scope...it's only 4-5 lbs with a scope and rings). The 10" barrel doesn't seem to lose much velocity over a 16" barrel based on some of the chrono'd info I read. What I don't like is that it doesn't have back up iron sites...yeah, you may not need them, but it doesn't hurt to have'em!
Slim profile, light weight...would make a great backpacking plinker that can easily and accurately hit at 100 meters. It's a nice little niche pistol (well, actually not too little). I don't shoot much beyong a 100 meters with my Marlin Papoose or Ruger 10/22's...the Charger is a much smaller and easier piece to pack.
