Anyone gotten you Anorexics yet?

No joy here, but it looks like just ABLE's are arriving at the moment. I know my Desert can't be too far behind.

I wonder whether this ABLE/DAB thing was some sort of knife-pass around ... hence the numbers to keep track of them ... When will they be shipped on to then next participants?

...

BTW, I just learned that I am next in row for ABLE #2 ... please Frodo, send it on ...

Thanks in advance.

:D

I got mine about a week ago. It's number 262. I don't see what the big deal about the number is, unless you don't plan to use it!  Honestly, #262 is mine and I would not trade it for #1. #262!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My serial number is #288, with is a complete WRONG, since my email to Busse, and a same Busse Forum reply, was within the first 5 or 6 people (less than 1 minute after Busse told us "BUY IT") who made the Busse Forum "reply" for these Anorexic knives.

My serial number #1, or #5, or #10, or #20...., but it would NOT be set up in #288. You can see of my "reply", three months back were a hundred or more of us went to buy the knives.

There's also this email for me, that showed my "recent email" for my knife.

Geesh! I think we're going to have to quit serial numbering our knives. The serial numbers were assigned in the order in which they were received. Period. That is all. No conspiracy, no favorites, no kidding!

I will be more than happy to refund anyone's money who is distraught over their serial number. We have a waiting list of folks who would love to own one of these knives.

It don't get more simple than that!

If you think about it, I bet a couple hundred folks were waiting to hit send. So, in a matter of seconds, a few hundred could be headed that way. I would bet that your ISP has something to do with the speed of your email leaving its server and there is always internet congestion. If person A sent their email 2 min. before person B, depending on the # of server trips that were between you and Jerry's ISP's server, person B might beat you to the inbox. Hell, be glad you have any, I had to pass on them because tuition went up :(

Kirk,
I'm a little confused. Your auto-response from Busse shows you received it almost an hour before Jerry posted the special offer. Maybe this is the problem, did you happen to send your email before the offer was made publicly?

Here's the original thread http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=256362 where Jerry makes the offer at 9:27 and then edits it with his email info at 9:49 PM, your auto-response shows a time of 8:36 PM, 51 minutes before the offer. If you sent it prior to the offer they might have put you at the end of the list(that however is just speculation on my part)

Either way I really don't see what the complaints are about. Unless you get #1 or maybe #2 there will be no significant difference in the resale value. And in a month or two they will all be very desirable. If the complaints continue Busse will probably discontinue all the serial numbers, so in the long run you are only hurting yourself and anyone else interested in the Numbered LE's.

Thank you for your recent email to Busse Combat Knife Co.

Eric -- you raise a good point. This is what's been bugging me. I just want to make sure timezones are being taken into consideration.

I guess I'm just concerned there's a flaw in the system. Yes, we all understand there were a lot of people waiting for the announcement, and yes there are Internet latencies.

I'm more concerned about next time. If there's a problem here, lets find it and fix it so it doesn't happen again.

I do not know of any other maker or manufacturer who goes out of their way to give everyone, including newbees who have never bought a knife from us before, an equal chance at getting one of the low serial numbers. We do not charge MORE for the low numbers as many other makers do and we do not assign numbers according to how much a customer has purchased in the past.

The whining about the serial number assignment is unbelievable to me. We do it this way because it is the fairest way to do it. If anyone has a better idea, I would be more than happy to entertain it at this time.

I repeat, I WILL GLADLY REFUND ANYONE WHO WANTS A REFUND BECAUSE THEY ARE DISTRAUGHT OVER THE SERIAL NUMBER THEY RECEIVED!!!!

I need beer!
