Anyone have 2 or more of the same knife?

While collecting knives when I find something I really like I can't help but buy several of them. Sometimes they have different handles or blades but often they are identical. I have 3 griptillians but they have different handles and blades. I have 2 Sere2000 Valloton autos, the same, 3 BM9100 auto's the same, 3 BM 9050AFO's the same and several others in duplicate. I just can't help it. I think maybe they will become unavailable or I will use one as an edc but that rarely happens. Does anybody else collect this way?

Yes.

705 x 3 (ATS34, M2, 154CM)

CRKT Mirage wharncliffe x 2 when they were being discontinuted. I had 4 at one time, but have given some as gifts.

AG Russell Featherlite x 2

SAKs, Sportsmen II x 2 it was $5.00 and for gifts.

GAKs x 8 bought in bulk looking for some made by Victorinox.

Yeah, I have made it a habit to buy almost everything in doubles. Why? I guess I think that I'll always have a backup in case of loss, theft, or destruction.

I do it only rarely, and usually* in cases where I want a user and one to keep minty. I can think of a few Schrades I have like that: a coupla Buzzsaw Trappers, a pair of 55OTGs, and three 98OTs (I like that one a lot!). I've got a few sets of identical SAKs, too, for the same reasons.

I also bought a few NOS (new old stock) specimens of some favorite CRKT users, ones that predate the change to that crappy 420J2 steel, so I'll still have good users even if I lose (or wear out!) my current users.

(* of course, there have also been a couple of brain-fart incidents, where I bought a knife because I forgot I already had one tucked in a knife roll at home... )

I have a twin brother who I'm rather close to. If I decide to purchase a knife (for whatever reason), I usually purchase two so that I can give him one. Also, if I decide I really like a particular knife after using it, I will often purchase another as a future "replacement." Occasionally, if I know a knife is part of a limited production run, I'll purchase multiple examples for future sales or trades or gifts (e.g., Spyderco Calypso Jr.).

I have a few duplicates of balisongs. two 43-401s, two 42-400s, 4 42MCs.

I has a few others that are different varients of the same knife. Like one has a black blade, the other is plain.

I only bother with duplicating if it's a limited edition that'll be hard to get another of if I don't get two right off the bat, or it's a variation of a knife I like.

I tend to buy one user, and one "just in case."

However in the case of multiple variants of the same knife, I try to get one of each, and this usually gets out of hand, and I end up with 12 of the same knife:o

I tend to duplicate EDC knives, like my Vic Yeoman and CRK Mnandi. Sometimes I get carried away, since I have 5 Yeomans and 6 mnandis.

I have two Northwoods 52100B Willow Leafs: one with a micarta handle (for using), and one with a very beautiful Cocobolo handle (for looking at).

Generally speaking though, I can neither afford (nor want) two of the same knife.

I have a lot of Buck 110s, but they're all a little different (steels, scales).

The only doubles I bought were when I found out Schrade had shut its doors. Bought a few extra slipjoints to give my son one of these days.

I have 2 lone wolf t-2s, I thought I ordered one but I ordered two by accident, I was going to send the second one back but I decided to keep it in case I broke the other one.

I have 2 boker Infinity's, it was on sale and I'm always worried I'll break my user. (it being ceramic and all)

I'm the opposite. I try to go for variety as much as possible and buy as many different brands, models, styles etc... as I can.

If I get two of the same model, I make sure there is something different between them.

Like Guyon, I still have 5 or 6 (of over 10) Buck 110s I have owned since the early 70s. My latest was bought last year. Some are pretty beat, rode hard and abused and are resting at last as any old soldier, in a box, with honor...

yup I have benchmade autos and non autos that are essentially the same thing. I also collect ek knives and the blades are similar just with diff handles and finishes

I bought a second Seal Pup when SOG came out with the Seal Pup Elite. I like the original design, and I wanted a backup in case they discontinued it.

I'm going to buy another Buck 110, and another Ka-Bar USMC for "display" purposes because the one's I have are beat up.

It's perfectly natural to buy duplicates. One as a user, one for the collection. The only problem is, it'll get expensive.
