snerk...oddly enough, i've seen many more walnut machaxes than i have warriors (the pointy machax - at most 50 made, and i've had two, and only seen two others). weird? weird

no, they have not been made since Camillus went tits up. as well, the Camillus version were very thick edged compared to the Cincinnati models, and really need reprofiling to use. the steel and heat treat were probably pretty good, but work is required imho.
in ... a while. probably not 2011 (damnation!) KaBar should be releasing a new Machax. it'll be an updated version of the EARLY Cincinnati designs that was phosphate-bronze coated (the black metal look, not a paint, expensive compared to powder coating, very tough); as a result, it'll have a good profile, chop like the dickens, and well, you know, be superior to like the last two major model out there
if i had my way, they'd make it out of 5160, but well, i don't
if i REALLY had my way, they'd offer a limited serialized run of 99 in SanMai or something and give all but one to me Ethan can have #1 hee hee

but the blade in question does have micarta pre-installed! nice!

i'm sure Ethan or Toooj (or that Moose character) will tell you asap when the Machax is ready... well, no, they won't. they really can't provide dates. that would be a no no, right? i'm always the last to know

historically, we've never been provided with detailed or precise exacting information. why start now?
though more than a few times, they manage to surprise everyone by being early to the point of not even announcing things, people just "find out" when they show up en mass on ePrey, amazon, and other popular vendors. i'm the last to know. though sometimes Ethan has been last. Toooj is even surprised
heh.last year with the Magnum Camp, they were months earlier than anticipated. nice surprise!
KaBar is sneaky that way. they provide rough estimates sometimes, but like to creep up on you and bring wonder and delight...
