Anyone have suggestions for a G10 Leek alternative

I have a full dlc leek and compared to the uncoated leek it’s not as slippery. Still not as good as g10.

I was researching the gent on Massdrop and then bumped into the Bradford Guardian with G10 scales in Nitro-V...problems now...

Today's small knife carry, finally grabbed the mnandi instead of letting it sit.

And I have a Massdrop Zinker/WE Dogtooth coming next week. I had the urban trapper in cocobolo but didn't like the scales. Looking forward to the Dogtooth though it isn't Leek sized.

Have you tried a mini Griptilian? It’s kind of a standard for most here so I would imagine so. I mean specifically an -1 model with 20CV and G10, though. It’s about the same size as a Leek, and I know I like flipping my mini Ritter just as much as I do my actually flippers, maybe even more. It’s absolutely the smoothest knife I own, bearings included. And while it’s not a Wharncliffe, the Sheepsfoot may appeal to you more than the Drop Point.

I've had multiple mg's, with the KSF micarta, G10, the regular. I love the Ritter grip blade shape, but as a package it doesn't do it for me. I kinda feel the same way about the mg as I do the 940. On paper it's fantastic, when you first meet it, it's fantastic, and then you notice just some thing about it that I just don't like. Primarily none of the handles feel good to me. I tend to like flattish handles which is why the Leek is so appealing.

Does anyone make custom scales for the Leek? If so, it's an another avenue to explore...

Have you looked at the Kizer Splinter? The blade is a pseudo-Wharncliffe like the Leek; mostly straight but a little bit of belly to it. S35VN blade, titanium scales, and a scalloped textured that looks nice and offers a bit of grip but isn't too aggressive. It's slim but a little longer than a Leek, at 3.375" blade / 7.5" overall vs 3" blade / 7" overall for the Leek. The other big difference is it isn't assisted, but has a very nice action running on ceramic bearings.

edit: forgot, they also have a cheaper "Vanguard" model that uses G10 scales and a liner lock instead of the Ti framelock.

Kizer Splinter is a neat looking little piece, kefefs... I haven't seen that one.

I was also going to suggest that the Boker Urban Trapper Petite might work, as I am assuming the thing you didn't like about the Urban Trapper you did have was the cocobolo scales. I much prefer the Urban Trappers without scales at all.

They make one with the flipper and one without. I think the flipper version would most resemble the Leek action.

A kershaw skyline might be an option for a really light edc. Another suggestiin would be a buck vantage

Re: Splinter I had one for about 20 minutes, got it in the mail and out it went. It was just like the Urban trapper a bit too thin in the hand for me. And the Skyline I couldn't get over the rough G10 and the back end of the Skyline, although i did keep the fixed blade version for quite some time.

I also had a Kershaw Gent's lockback in G10, multiple Kabar Dozier's which I might get another just bc they're awesome and I have a soft spot for lockbacks, also had two different Boker Kwaiken's, one of which I had Big Chris put a nasty grind job on, but none of them really had the ergo's like a Leek. It's the same with the CRKT M16, I wish I could find one of the old 154CM versions, I use the 8CR13mov version, it's edge keeping ability is not so great but I do really like the design. Also had both sized of the Buck Vantage. One great knife which isn't popular bc it uses 440C is the BM mini Presidio 527Ultra. That's an awesome EDC but I can't carry that one in NYC, too complicated.

Could take a look at the Benchmade Sequel. It is basically a MG with the handle on a diet (thinner).

I didn't get along with the 707, basically I've tried most Spyderco and Benchmades including the Nagara (10700) which I would get another if I could find one! I really like seeing some of the suggestions though of the other brands. I still haven't pulled the trigger on an Mcusta yet for example. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the WE Dogtooth after stumbling on a couple of pages about the Keen Laconico. I finally pulled the trigger on that last night. I haven't gotten it in hand yet, but I'm thinking its possible that it could be a possible Leek Killer even though its kinda stabby looking.

If you like G10 and a smaller sized knife, I'd suggest the G10 ZT0450 Sprint which you can get for around $160 (if/when you can find one).

It's a mini-ZT0452. It doesn't come w/a wharncliffe blade but it's a definite upgrade from a Leek.

I would suggest the Steel Will Mini Intrigue. It has a 3.25 blade length and is lighter than the leek with D2 steel and is a flipper with good action. Not a wharnie but has a sleeker office friendly look. Also not G-10 but the frn is plenty grippy. I have the larger model and am considering getting a mini.

^ that's pretty cool in line with the Ripple and Eros which I haven't held in hand yet

Not another knife suggestion but I picked up a stainless frame-lock leek a while back and put a deep carry clip on it; came off my Blur. The stainless seems a little less slick than my aluminum and the clip made the knife more secure in hand. Looks cool too.
The Leek is a nice edc. Love that pointy blade.

After carrying the mnandi again it's possible that it might be the leek killer ... but for now I've narrowed the possible next choices to he a CF Leek, another Kabar Dozier lockback, GB Air or potentially that Steel Will Mini...( Yimes Yimes where did you find that cool blue one?) To be continued...I also have that Dogtooth coming too I have no idea what size it is I just wanted it.

PS as you can see I tried the grip tape trick. It works but Im not feeling it lol.
